Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/leonys-martin-stopped-being-a-slap-hitter/ Looks like I have a brand new AJ Pollock.
TRM Verified Member Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 Did NJH tell you to add him? pack it up. everyone go home or to the BBDL thread, this one is over.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 Haha poor TCA, lugged that guy's worthless ass around for like 2 years hoping for this. I DID! And all you guys told me it wasn't gonna happen. Even thought about picking him up earlier this year too. But if I can't have him, I'm glad Boxy can. Treat him right, and don't trade him for another Appel. Unless it's to me..

There's only ever going to be one Mark Appel, no one else can touch his shitbag status.
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 There's only ever going to be one Mark Appel, no one else can touch his shitbag status. He's so impossibly bad. 7.98 K/9, 4.70 BB/9 and 4.46 ERA in AAA. Does he finally fall off top-100 lists when the midseason ones are released? Roto note for his most recent start lol: Appel failed to make it out of the first inning during his start Sunday for Triple-A Lehigh Valley. His fastball was topping out at 89 mph, down from his typical 94-95 mph velocity in the early innings, Tom Housenick of the Allentown Morning Call reports. (5/25/2016)

Anyone wants him for literally anything, he's yours.
Cyborg Verified Member Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 Bregman leads the minors in wRC+ with a BABIP under .300. Only one other player in the minors has a wRC+ over 150 and a BABIP under .300.

You know you're gonna trade him, he'll end up eventually going to some team like the Cardinals or Pirates and then he'll turn into the next Jake Arrieta.

Trading him would require someone else wanting him, which more than likely isn't going to happen.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 Bregman leads the minors in wRC+ with a BABIP under .300. Only one other player in the minors has a wRC+ over 150 and a BABIP under .300. What's his HR/FB? Probably unsustainably high, leading to a deflated BABIP. The power spike is sexy nevertheless.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 The day has finally come. To where you declare your self a 2017 contender? Or Mark Appel drop day?
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 These Fangraphs "new approach" articles have a terrible track record. I wouldn't be that worried. I was thinking this the other day. It almost always ends up being 1000 words about SSS noise. I guess guys can't pump out 5 articles a week without most of it being garbage.
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 So would it be funny if Appel is the next Arrieta/Carrasco, or has Boxy endured enough pain?
TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 I never noticed until now, Urias starts tomorrow night. I went from 5 pieces of him in pools to just 2. Sucks that I'm away from a TV all weekend. Although good cause I don't think I can handle being around to watch my team collapse against NJH. I think I have a sub 1.25 ERA for my past 100 innings though.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 To where you declare your self a 2017 contender? Or Mark Appel drop day? Traded Appel.

Hyperbolic of me to say he's my new Pollock, obviously, but if he can sustain anything close to this he becomes a very useful player. He's got some authority in his swing.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 So would it be funny if Appel is the next Arrieta/Carrasco, or has Boxy endured enough pain? I don't even care at this point. Cutting my losses is something I feel I needed to do on more than one level and if Appel decides he wants to f*** me one more time, he can go right ahead. I will probably be a playoff team by then anyway.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 If you wanna trade him to me, that would be great
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 Ramos getting pushed off the roster in favour of Vogt is pretty funny, right? e: Not to toot my own horn, but having a star C on the bench is a nice luxury, you guys should try it. This doesn't bother me. Nobody would have kept him past the cut this year, and being a catcher, he'll be back on the scrap heap in short order.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 I think we Matz be able to come to an agreement.
TRM Verified Member Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 This comment won't be taken seriously but I would have traded for Appel
TRM Verified Member Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 I'll take it seriously; nobody likes that *******, why u be him TRM? Also nobody ever thank one of my posts again, I've waited for this moment. I don't understand anything in this post.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 I don't understand anything in this post. Pretty sure he's just making something up.
