Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Our future team president Yaaaaay Personally, I'd rather have Chen than Duquette.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Is it even a good decision though? I mean I understand the rationale but this is a 29 year old guy who gave you 185 IP last year so durability shouldn't really be an issue. Like Dinger said, why not ring every inning out of him? His career splits aren't that extreme either. He's not a lock to get destroyed or anything. This might be a simple case of over-managing. I think Kershaw is a good bet to get destroyed by this Jays lineup. I don't mind skipping Chen and bringing in a starter the Jays haven't seen before. Really it depends on what RHP gets that start. If the O's are thinking every win matters at this point...Zach Davies is the type of pitcher that the Jays struggle against (throws strikes and has a plus plus change but opens up the other argument of starting a pitchers options a year early for a spot start...cough Nolin). If you are going to throw Steve Johnson or something at them...then it is really stupid. Also please note that when I say skipping the start. I mean doing it in professional way.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Also please note that when I say skipping the start. I mean doing it in professional way. I just don't think that baseball culture really allows for it to be perceived as anything but insulting even if it might make sense strategically (depending largely as you said on who does get the start).

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 The Rays? Huh? What about the Rays? Is this something they do?
TheHurl Site Manager Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Huh? What about the Rays? Is this something they do? They tell their 5th starters, which started the year as their 12th starter, that it doesn't matter how they pitch they might be sent down. Players are taught to understand options and if the pen needs a rest and they recently pitched four innings. Sorry Bellatelli, Andriese, Karns, Geltz, Romero, but how you pitched doesn't matter we need fresh arms so you have options and will get sent down. Colome was straight out told that they would look to trade him once people get back, not because they don't believe in him, but because without options he has less value to them.

That's cool but I don't really see how it's relevant. Would they do this to Chris Archer and would he accept it no matter how well it's explained? Should he?
torontofan Verified Member Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Anyone in need of a Catcher. I'd move Francisco Cervelli for a waiver pick or MiLB pick/upgrade.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Sorry, I'm just reading it now. Below-average clock!
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Dinger, plz GTFO. Thx. Straight up, I posted that with good intentions. I thought it would be a decent scouting report that would shut me up and exonerate Boxy. I didn't read it before I posted it. It's not even like it's THAT bad, it's an ok fantasy profile... maybe like Omar Infante or something. Still, the glove could hold him back from getting regular playing time.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 LOL @ me for actually starting Odrisamer Despaigne
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 LOL @ me for actually starting Odrisamer Despaigne On Wednesday? Your dumn
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Sorry, I'm just reading it now. Below-average clock! Well he is asian
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 well he is asian heyooooooooooooooooooooo
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Also, seems to me like "butcher" is a big exaggeration. The description doesn't really sound like 35 power either. Tbh I don't really disagree with much written. He sounds like an above average fantasy 2B.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 The Bear Jew is on pace for 47/135/132/25 and is slashing .363/.481/.679. This could be the greatest fantasy season since Barry Bonds.
