Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 It's a great offense, but it's a Homer Bailey injury away from missing the playoffs. Even with Bailey the pitching is nowhere near the upper half of the league.
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 30, 2013 Author Posted October 30, 2013 C - 1B - Belt 2B - Cano SS - Zobrist (2B/OF) 3B - Wright CF - Ethier OF - Nava (1B) OF - Gordon UTIL - Hart (1B) BE - Quentin (OF) BE - Villar (SS) BE - Bradley Jr. (CF) SP - Scherzer SP - Sanchez SP - Niese SP - Gallardo SP - Bauer SP - McAllister RP - Holland And then 2 of: Harrison, Stults, Paulino, Doumit/Castillo, Nelson, Norris, LoMo, Blackmon, Cotts. Right now it would probably be Harrison and Stults since my pitching is thin and top heavy. Lots of offseason left though.

I got a guy on my roster that just does not fit and he just came off a 21HR season... Interested????
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 There are a few offenses I like better than yours. Lots of injury concerns and ageing players. I actually tend to think my offense is young and healthy lol. Beltre and Choo are the only ones 31 or older, and they're both durable and playing the best baseball of their careers. Kemp is an injury risk but Carter is a decent replacement. It's a great offense, but it's a Homer Bailey injury away from missing the playoffs. Even with Bailey the pitching is nowhere near the upper half of the league. I feel like the unpredictability of pitching will level the playing field some and I do plan on adding one or two viable guys. It's a definite question mark though. Also, I have third original top 10 picks (not that it means anything).

Mauer and Fielder both just seem very old. Mauer because he's a beat up catcher, thirteen pro years behind the dish is a hell of a lot of wear and tear. Fielder just because he's fat and he played s***** this year. Jed Lowrie is also, possibly, the biggest positional injury liability since Rocco Baldelli. I feel like the unpredictability of pitching will level the playing field some This is a good point.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 I dunno. Your only players on the right side of 30 in 2014 are Rizzo, Kipnis, and McCutchen. There could be a couple of big decline years in there. Kemp, Fielder, Lowrie are also under 30. Beltre is the only one who is 'old', but he has shown no sign of decline. In fact, Beltre posted many of the best plate discipline numbers of his career in 2013 - Contact%, SwStr% were bests, BB% second best. Fifth-best WAR in baseball since start of 2010. Jed Lowrie is a risk, NJH is right about that.

The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Cat are you sure Arod is going to be Your utility player lol. Arod is innocent yo! But really, I'll have to wait and see what his suspension is. Johnson or Martin could also slot in there, not really worried about it, easiest spot to fill.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Possible top-5 pitching staff and bottom-5 offense. Give it time

The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 You mean future MVP Jose Abreu will slot in there. Sounds tempting.

Heeeeeeeelllll yeah I do I'm hoping Yordano, Meyer, or Hultzen will be able to help me next year. Possibly Tanaka depending how the waiver draft works out (I'd take Abreu to replace Loney as well).
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 in addition to above... if Bundy doesn't come back and kick ass, that is going to be one epic fail of a pick.

Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 I'd keep him over Strop. For me it's an easy decision to keep Strop over him because he seems to be locked in as the Cubs closer. Anytime you have a closer you can get some sort of value for him.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 It seems too quite right now. It's been a while since someone's made a deal.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 We had a flurry of early activity, it seems like a lot of people were excited from the inaugural season and got their Xmas shopping done early. In the other keeper/fantasy leagues I'm in, there's been virtually no activity so far. But if my inbox is any indication, there are a lot of people still looking to make big moves.

Anytime you have a closer you can get some sort of value for him. You'd think so, but I can't even get a draft pick for Huston Street or Grant Balfour right now. Once the season starts, you can get a 3rd round pick for your average closer, but that's about as high as their value seems to get.

I do want to add another closer this offseason (and would trade a decent pick), but am going to wait until after the Waiver Draft.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 I'm pretty sure this is on most peoples agenda. It's going to be quite a scramble. Most people feel like relievers not matter how successful individually are the easiest places to replace so there's going to be quite a relievers shuffle as they get first dropped and then re-acquired through the waiver draft.
