I have two shortstops (Lindor and Bichette) and two catchers (Y. Diaz and William Contreras). Will

be looking to move one or two of them to give me more flexibility.

Enough of jerking off NJH, OFFSEASON TIME!

I would really like to move OF (CF even) for not OF. I've got a huge glut of OF both on the major league roster, and the minors. Could use 1B, SS, 3B, or SP.

Current have OF eligible of;

Jazz Chishom (CF)

Henry Davis

Est Ruiz (CF)

Mickey Moniak (CF)

James Wood (CF)

Colton Cowser (CF)

Ji Bae (CF-2B)

No non-crazy offers on Corbin 'Acuna-lite' Carroll will be entertained.

I’ll give you Alcantara and Goldschmidt for Carroll.

Who has you know who? They probably undervalue him

I actually don't know who you are talking about. I don't remember your 2B fetish. Marte?

He’s my safe choice. I was talking about the 25/25 guy from Oakland

I own Gelof and value him appropriately.

Justin Verlander and Justin Turner are on the block. Turner has 1B/2B for 2024.

Are these players sharply discounted due to the chance of retirement this offseason?

The odds of Verlander retiring this offseason are 0, unless he blows his shoulder out in the playoffs or something. He's owed 43M next season and has said he wants to pitch into his mid-40s. There's also nothing indicating that Turner isn't playing next year.

You would think the guy named after a boyband would love Justins

This comes off as a homophonic, bro joke to me. Perhaps Jim has finally broken your spirits and you gave up.

Are we acting on the results of the poll from a few months ago related to our pitching cats/roster spots?

Yeah I think I will change something

Just need to decide on one or the other

That is becuase you are a f***ing idiot! The joke was just about BTS being named after the KPop band. It is a running joke as BTS clearly named their band after Brian Tallet's stache

Any strong final opinions on which pitching scoring/roster change we implement? Going to decide soon.

Option A. Turn one SP slot into a P slot. And add one P slot. Total roster size would not increase. This just allows people to get more RP into their daily lineup if they choose. You could get 7 RP in there instead of 5.

Option B. Combine SV and HLD. No other roster slot changes. This just allows people to not have to "punt" HLDs to chase SVs, or vice versa.

I guess the downside of B is pitchers would have one less scoring category. And s***** closers sort of lose value.

I guess the downside of A is those unicorn SP eligible relievers lose most of their unique value.

Personally I lean towards doing Option A but want to hear some final arguments.

I like B. SVHD is a better category really. Punting one category or the other makes sense when they are 2 cats, but is just boring. Closers still hold more value b/c they are generally better and get used more consistently SV situations.

I prefer option A. Not a fan of the big bump in value SP/RP guys get anyway, though I’ve taken advantage of it often. I also like the current format of pitchers and hitters having equal weight: 7 cats each.

Why not take 2 SP slots and 1 RP slot and convert them to P slots? That would give 3 SP and 3 RP dedicated slots with the rest being flexible. It deals with the opener nonsense while still maintaining some sort of traditional balance. I don't really see the need to add additional slots. I wouldn't be opposed to combining saves and holds and adding another category though. Maybe adding something like innings pitched.

That is possible too.

Maybe the thing to do is what Abom said and have 3 SP 3 RP 4 P slots.... but raise the IP minimum.

Another fear I have with going to 7 possible RP is that people can lean too hard into the strategy of running out mostly RP.

Having the league work in a way where people need to roster a list of SP just seems more pure to me

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

3Sp, 3RP, 4P slots would work well I think. There's also no reason why the IP limit can't be increased to 30 or even 35. Even a 7-SP, 7RP roster would easily get you to 35 innings every week. I just looked at all of my matchups this year, and there were no weeks where either me or my opponent had fewer than 35 IP.

A problem could arise if/when an owner who starts with a 7SP-7RP roster has some SP injuries and then doesn't bother to replace them. But that should just result in an owner replacement.

Right, and no biggie. Frenchsoup is out there, somewhere.

I honestly don’t care what happens other than not wanting SV + HLD

Imagine that category is tied in the playoffs and you get a save from Josh Hader and your opponent gets a hold from Jimmy Garcia and Kirby Snead
