First I should apologize to Boxy about yesterday. Rereading my posts, it made it sound more like an accusation than I had intended. I was a few drinks in and didn't catch the tone of the post.

Second, we do obviously have to address that rule. I think we talked about it before and the sentiment was that nobody thought people would tank the (consolation) playoffs to get better picks, in a bit of a gentleman's agreement. This is the first instance of open tanking, but I'm quite sure that everyone knocked from the championship isn't exactly pushing for every win. I know last year in the WTP (obviously lesser stakes) when my team was ousted, I was rooting for my team to fail. I kept my rosters full, and starters in the lineup, but sure didn't make any adds.

I think we need to either;

- Place greater prestige on higher playoff finishes (don't see this as that easy to do, or really viable)

- Change the method of pick assignment for playoff teams. This could be regular season record, final playoff seeds, some kind of lottery, or more drastically something based on playoff performances.

Obviously this can be dealt with in the OS, but its something to chat about.

Obviously I could have been more subtle about it but I wanted to be honest and prove a point. I don't care about finishing 5th vs. 8th and I'd rather have a higher pick. There is incentive for me to fail. I don't blame you for calling me out at all, don't worry. Realistically I would like to still be trying to win but it's honestly counter productive at this point.

Talk about taking the hard way for Havok btw. Forgot that he beat the second best (and only other .600+) team before SG's.

Am I the only autist who tries their best to finish as high as possible even after I’m eliminated?

Oh yeah, rage quitting the league is far more admirable than trying to use the rules to acquire a better draft pick. 100% agree there.

I mean with you

Any surprise with Boxy? Openly tanks and is indifferent to his team in BORED, then just challenges to kick him out when called on it. Quit multiple leagues cold turkey after not setting lineups because he didn’t like team he drafted. He’s worst of worst

When I decided to drop leagues, it was only after dispersal drafts were decided on. And last year when I was awful in redraft I still set my lineups till end. He quit same league like 4 weeks in

What a surprise that you're here to chirp as usual

Just wanted to drop a quick truth bomb. You can have the floor again

You really only hit on BORED but I wouldn't expect a dumb f*** like yourself to remember things as they happen.

I have to admit I didn't even know our BORED consolation matchup was happening. That has more to do with the injuries to my pitching than my integrity though.

I think I've suggested this before in other leagues, but it was never adopted. All non-playoff teams go in the draft lottery, and each receive an equal weighting (or one that VERY slightly goes in favor of the better records). Make it beneficial for teams to win as many games as they can. The waiver wires and trade opportunities are deep enough in these leagues rebuilding teams aren't completely screwed if they don't get the top few picks.

If regular season records were used instead, that at least prevents the tanking in the playoffs.

I don't imagine we are looking to change our process at the bottom of the draft as this sort of thing was discussed when the rules were clarified (not too long ago). I think its mainly playoff tanking we are discussing ATM.

Use regular season records and then this problem is solved.

I would actually agree with this, especially since it's what we do with the teams between the playoff pack and the lottery pack. Of course, any changes that are made wouldn't come into effect til next year.

Exactly. Especially within a group of SSS nazis it doesn’t make sense to use playoff finishes for draft positioning.

Every other League uses RS Standings don't they?

If you dig in this very thread where people previously suggested doing this, you'll see people acting like FC managers if someone wanted to use only one of hits or average.
