Would Ventura have gone #1 in the waiver draft if he was cut? This is a weak year, so there's a decent chance. Maybe Thames would go ahead of him.

Different needs for different teams but there are lottery tickets I would have rather have.

Yeah, not that I want to get into a ranking exercise, but if you had all players ranked as keepers, you could tie compensation to that. For ex, a Top 20 player gets two 1st round picks, a Top 100 player gets a 20B, a Top 200 player gets a 40B, beyond that you get nothing. Of course, we'd never be able to agree on rankings anyway, so I guess it's moot.

Not to mention it is too much information given to our opponents but it would be a fun exercise. This board is probably in the minority when it comes to dynasty over fantasy and probably has more experience than most.

Just to put a nail in it, the compensation will be pick 40b.

I don't think there is really a functional difference between 40b and 20b and I was of the opinion that compensation was not within the spirit of the rule, so my inclination will decide which way the pick falls.

What we've done here, essentially, is a set a two-tiered precedent. In the future we will probably apply this as follows:

A) When any objective keeper quality player dies, the owner will get 40b.

B) When an exceptional or very valuable dynasty asset dies, the owner will get subjective compensation based on our previous rule.

Will A) apply to a player who is, say, 31 years old? Only the future caselaw will tell us.

How will we decide whether a gray area player falls within category A) or category B)? Again, only the future caselaw will tell us.

I eagerly look forward to adjudicating this complex, evolving area of Baseball Dynasty law.

If we want to work on rejigging the rules doc, the current rules are listed in section 8 of the google doc.

They are currently the ones that were listed on the PB's with an appendix of past compensations.

I keep Kepler over a few of the guys you're keeping. The rest seems fine to me.

Same with me. He has 9 or 10 SP too, so could probably look to trade at least one of them to free up the space.

Seems reasonable. I accept this. Hopefully this situation doesn't keep popping up.

Agreed. Kepler over Norris or possibly Lynn or Bauer.

Edit: Nvm, I hadn't noticed Norris' improved K rate this year and assumed he was still garbage. He's a keeper.

OT: just traded Brad Boxberger for Keon Broxton in the FC. Dinger would be proud!

Jesus Christ. I paid a lot more for him in DDL.

Dinger ended up trading him actually lol? What was the trade?

Broxton + Kazmir for Gio Gonzalez + Gsellman

Also, lmao @ the fans' projections of Keon Broxton on fangraphs. They think he's 2015-2016 Odubel Herrera, basically.

The only thing fan projections are (possibly somewhat) useful for are playing time projections, assuming a large enough sample size.

In what universe is Brad Boxberger even remotely keeper worthy? I'm no fan of Broxton but there's no denying that getting an intriguing piece like him for someone who might not get chosen in the waiver draft is a complete steal.

I forgot Boxberger was still alive. Is he still a Ray? FC owners aren't the sharpest, overall. A few exceptions, namely anyone who is reading this.

I didn't want to, but I wanted Gsellman and Broxton was the only piece that really fit for BTS' roster. I don't think Gio and Kazmir are too different; the difference is mainly job security rather than talent. I have seen a huge divergence of opinions on Gsellman, much like Broxton. BP put his OFP as 70 in this year's prospect rankings (which I think is way too high), and I've seen probably half the writers in chats say he's more of a 3/4 SP, 50-60 OFP guy.

Well it is a 7x7 that uses both Hits and Average as scoring categories.

You had to pay the Dinger Pump and Dump premium.

Dinger is an Alpha Top in fantasy trade negotiations
