Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 Mujica was in my remaining Top 5.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 Yeah able to draft a potential closer at pick 9 is definitely something I won't complain about. I really like Hunter - has great peripherals even if he ends up a setup in Baltimore I won't complain. Still a lot of interesting names available from bats, to bullpen arms. Not much in the SP department however.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 Hah, I was juggling between Mujica and Jones, nice pick Kev. I owned both for a large part of last year lol. The talent pool here seems to be really thin. There's only one guy left that I really want.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 Not that anyone has done this, but can everyone make sure they don't discuss or give hints at any remaining players? I know in the BBDL thread, some posters would give clues and practically list the best guys available. I'm sure no one in our league would do it anyway but I just wanted to ask to be safe.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 I really wanted Mujica at 16. He should rack up 20+ holds, and has an insane K/BB. Now I feel really dumb. I was sitting here hoping Mujica would fall to 40.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 Now I feel really dumb. I was sitting here hoping Mujica would fall to 40. I probably would have taken him at 14 if he fell that far.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 I need a little clarification on Rule 4 draft eligibility, and confirmation to the below would clear it up. Are all prospects that are in an MLB organization, have not appeared in an MLB game, and are not on a 25-man MLB roster or MiLB roster eligible? Thanks.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 This waiver draft has already given so much. http://i.imgur.com/27jfREA.gif Wow, could BTS be more of a whiny bitch?

They have to be in the yahoo database, and I'm pretty sure they have to have logged an appearance at AA or higher.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 You just feel left out because I've commented on pretty much every pick but Butler. I liked your pick Boxy. I liked where you complained about everyone else taking the guys you wanted.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 They have to be in the yahoo database, and I'm pretty sure they have to have logged an appearance at AA or higher. I'm talking about the MiLB draft btw, not this one. I'm doing research for MiLB in addition to the waiver draft, so I thought I may as well clear this up.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Everyone should just completely rip into BTS' pick at 16 and trash it like no other.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 I'm talking about the MiLB draft btw. Oh I just noticed u said Rule IV. Assumed you were talking about the waiver draft.
TRM Verified Member Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Everyone should just completely rip into BTS' pick at 16 and trash it like no other. Sounds like the Zach Lee debacle of 2013.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Sounds like the Zach Lee debacle of 2013. Yeah there's no coming back for Zach Lee. For the next 15 years he will be the league's whipping boy.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 I had two thought processes going into this draft. Take two closers (which is what I wanted to do when I traded for the 5th) or take Butler and a holds guy. When Veras went at 3 I knew the guys behind me weren't going to let Nate Jones get to 10 if I took Hunter at 5. At this point I tried to move down to 8 through SG and was going to just take Murphy and a closer or something like that. Zach wouldn't give me what I wanted to move up. Not being ready for the draft hurt me in not having a plan C. I will give Guerrero a chance now and see if he will develop into something. It's not like I have a strong 2B now. For me getting one closer would only put me into the weekly conversation with those that have 2 relievers (3 would have pushed me into 90% wins IMO) but I'd drop below .500 in holds. Last year I had a good balance (.500 in saves and .850 in holds).
TheHurl Site Manager Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 I never intend to take 12 hours (I actually had a 12 hour shift today though and I don't have much access so it was a possibility). I like to say that though to get some of the "your up" messages to back off.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Story? I don't even really remember the origin. I think it was just that we all felt he was the most boring prospect in the entire draft. He usually gets mocked/taunted any time his names comes up (despite actually putting up a decent year).
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Off topic, but my league is currently doing our draft order for a basic 5x5 league. We draft the slots we want. 7 people selected and took 1,3,5,6,7,8,9 and I just gladly took the 2nd slot with the 8th selection. I finally get to own Cabrera!!

I think that TRM was drunk when he drafted Zach Lee, and the next morning had no idea why he took him. So TRM decided to act like his reasoning was very sound since Lee was going to be a saviour. He instantly became Lee's biggest fan and would toot his horn at every opportunity. Something like that. The whole situation was pretty funny for a while.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Havok is online on the DDL board. Stay tuned Cats/North.

NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 He picked. We could get three in five minutes here if CatsAss doesn't take the guy I want
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 He picked. We could get three in five minutes here if CatsAss doesn't take the guy I want Dinger is on too. We could execute the rare quadruple pick in 10 minutes.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 I honestly thought MAG would go higher than he did.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 I honestly thought MAG would go higher than he did. Mid-season everyone thought these would be the MAG Sweepstakes. Then the injury concerns surfaced and Tanaka and Abreu became eligible.
TRM Verified Member Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 11 guys on the PB right now, wow what losers we all are on a Saturday night!
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 I was going for Alfredo sauce. I noe have to assess the situation
TRM Verified Member Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 No rush, we have about 6 weeks to finish this draft up!
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 23, 2014 Author Posted February 23, 2014 11 guys on the PB right now, wow what losers we all are on a Saturday night! Not losers. The opposite, actually. Social transcendents. Above it all.
