Ugh, BP's website is terrible. I'm on month to month billing because I don't use their content year round. I buy premium access in November, and then get auto-billed on December 6th - that's fine, most sites work that way, I'll just turn off auto-billing. It takes forever to find the area to change membership level, but eventually I find it and switch back to free. For every other site I've ever used, this change kicks in after the month you've already paid for. Not for BP - I'm down to a free access 5 days after buying a month of premium. When I try to change it back to premium, they try to bill me again. The idiots running this site get literally everything wrong.

A third approach would have been the introduction of a single player with both SP and Util-eligibility. In that scenario, users would have to choose at the beginning of each transaction period (daily or weekly) whether to accept Ohtani’s batting or pitching stats. However, had we taken that route at Yahoo, our engineers would have needed to substantially rebuild the fantasy product. This would have been an enormous undertaking, disrupting other initiatives and delaying the game. And in the end, Ohtani’s owners still would not have received 100 percent of his stats.

That's really annoying. I have a sub, just PM any articles you ever want to read and don't deal with the month to month bs.

So I think the Otani thing can be worked around (best as we can) with the following;

 

1- Otani only 1 player for all cut-down purposes

2- The owner only has to keep one copy of Otani on his roster at any time to retain ownership

 

It sucks a bit for the owner as he needs to use two roster spots for the player, but it looks like the best we can do at this point. Giving the owner flexibility to drop Otani the hitter or Otani the pitcher (but not both) at any time should do something to make up for this. As does allowing the owner to collect hitting stats even when Otani is pitching.

 

All other owners, just don't pick up anyone named Otani. In the hypothetical instance that Otani's owner is going to drop both copies in the future, the gentlemanly thing to do would be to announce it so people can make a claim (and not have to notice that both are FA's before deciding if they want to make a claim). Its one player, I'm sure we can handle it.
