BTS Community Moderator Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Oh f***. I've been completely oblivious to important dates this offseason so that's on me. I'm going to start researching right away. Sorry about this. Those of us in the AL East could not be less inconvenienced by this.
BTS Community Moderator Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 I don't think I've ever known a Nick that I've liked. It's our generation's Aiden.

BTS Community Moderator Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Must really grind your gears that I'm more e-popular than you I'm sure everyone is a bit jealous of the size of your e-cawk, to be honest.

Seems about right.
BTS Community Moderator Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 THERE'S THREE OF US IN THE TROUT CLUB NOW!!!! cf We should meet weekly to have whiskey and cigars while circle jerking to Trout's fangraphs page.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 We should meet weekly to have whiskey and cigars while circle jerking to Trout's fangraphs page. You know, sometimes a cigar isn't just a cigar.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Fair thee well, handsome Hebrew. To sammy: Ryan Braun + MiLB 29 To LOB: J.P. Crawford + Jorge Alfaro + MiLB 46
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 semi-starting the eventual rebuild?
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Fair thee well, handsome Hebrew. To sammy: Ryan Braun + MiLB 29 To LOB: J.P. Crawford + Jorge Alfaro + MiLB 46 Cashing in on Braun and not getting hosed is a move I endorse.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 semi-starting the eventual rebuild? Nope, just incrementally getting a bit younger while covering off a position of future (or very near present) need. I have some irons in the fire to get an OF back to replace Braun, and while Braun is a projected Top 20 hitter in this format for 2016, I think I can get back some of his counting stats at least for a reasonable price.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Cashing in on Braun and not getting hosed is a move I endorse. I really think Braun is underrated and gets an undeserved amount of hate. Here are the Top 20 hitters by my calculations according to current steamer projections for this format: Mike Trout Bryce Harper Giancarlo Stanton Paul Goldschmidt Miguel Cabrera Anthony Rizzo Andrew McCutchen Kris Bryant Jose Abreu Jose Bautista Mookie Betts Joey Votto Edwin Encarnacion Josh Donaldson Manny Machado Miguel Sano Ryan Braun Jose Altuve Nolan Arenado George Springer The Hebrew Hammer still fills it up.
TRM Verified Member Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 I say this as a Jays fan and not a JD owner, curious that EE scores higher than him.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 I say this as a Jays fan and not a JD owner, curious that EE scores higher than him. This isn't adjusted at all for position. It's not knock on JD, they're both beasts. Steamer projects slightly more power and a slightly better slashline for EE. Obviously the projections can and will still change a bit before opening day.
BTS Community Moderator Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 So I traded Braun for Waino, then traded Waino for Matz and Meadows and you traded Braun for Crawford and Alfaro. Edge Dinger.

I just haven't looked at projections yet, and I'm surprised they give an edge to EE.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 I should have just stuck with this guy <-----
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 13, 2016 Author Posted January 13, 2016 So I traded Braun for Waino, then traded Waino for Matz and Meadows and you traded Braun for Crawford and Alfaro. Edge Dinger. I might take Matz and Meadows over Crawford and Alfaro. Crawford > Matz > Meadows >>> Alfaro. Hard to say how good Crawford will be in fantasy. Toolz haven't been loud in the minors. Alfaro hasn't developed at all. Mexican JPA?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Of course not, wasn't offended or anything. I just haven't looked at projections yet, and I'm surprised they give an edge to EE. Over the past 3 seasons, EE has 109 HR and a .389 wOBA while JD has 94 HR with a .377 wOBA, so that's where that comes from. Once you do a positional adjustment though, JD comes out way ahead.

Crawford + Jorge Alfaro + MiLB 46 Good deal for you, not terrible for sammy but I would have had a really hard time giving up a soon to be stud SS for an aging slugger (who obviously has a couple 120 wRC+ years left)
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 I might take Matz and Meadows over Crawford and Alfaro. Crawford > Matz > Meadows >>> Alfaro. Hard to say how good Crawford will be in fantasy. Toolz haven't been loud in the minors. Alfaro hasn't developed at all. Mexican JPA? Alfaro was really just a throw-in. Still, he was an above average hitter in AA the last two seasons as a 21/22 year old. The power upside is real, the approach is still below average. He's kinda like the Javier Baez of catchers, only not quite so extreme.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Good deal for you, not terrible for sammy but I would have had a really hard time giving up a soon to be stud SS for an aging slugger (who obviously has a couple 120 wRC+ years left) From sammy's perspective, he already has a J.P. Crawford in Lindor. I can see why he'd want to push some chips in for this year with the overall age of his roster.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Jose Reyes is officially OTB for a comparable OF. Possible suspension is factored into sticker price.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Good deal for you, not terrible for sammy but I would have had a really hard time giving up a soon to be stud SS for an aging slugger (who obviously has a couple 120 wRC+ years left) Basically i hate giving him up but i am basically selling out on the fact that i don't think what Lindor did last season was a fluke so it made it a little easier for me. Outfield has been a sore spot for me for the last few years so just hoping i can shore it up a bit this year and hopefully contend for a playoff spot this year. Few more deals to be made.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 I'd take Matz and Meadows over Crawford and Alfaro. I see Crawford being a slightly better version of Maicer Izturis for fantasy purposes. Way more value in real life over fantasy.
BTS Community Moderator Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Jose Reyes is officially OTB for a comparable OF. Possible suspension is factored into sticker price. I'll let you choose between Gattis and Trumbo.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
