The only reason to own Rodney is if you want to intentionally tank your ratios for a chance at a better draft pick. He is quite useful for that.

Rodon wasn't even good yesterday. He's had two useful starts since early June.

 

Talk about an arbitrary timeframe... he's got a 3.86 xFIP, 9.6 K/9, 45% GB, 10.4 SwStr % as a rookie. The BBs have been ticking down and his BABIP is normalizing, the kid is a stud.

I wish Mitchell would write a long post where he demonstrates why his Mahalanobis Distance method matters. I'm not really convinced that there's much information gained in the process and he uses it for just about every call-up or prospect traded.

 

Rodon is obviously very talented, but I don't think he's that useful right now in our league format. Bird is maybe a league average bat but his minor league numbers aren't that special for a 22-year-old first baseman.

 

What would constitute special? A consistent 200 wRC+?
