Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 I can't decide if I'd rather face you or Sil in the first round of the playoffs. I would rather face Silvio. Nick's team is more balanced, with lethal pitching and Chris Davis is going berserk lately. Meanwhile, Freddie Freeman has been banged up and Tulo and Arenado are slumping. THB seems more beatable at this moment in time.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Hate to get Boxy started, but Winker has homered in 5 straight games. Just had to break up the boring playoff matchup talk.

I hope Boxy is right and Winker is a stud, I just don't see it happening myself. Even with that HR binge, his ISO is only .158. He's a 15-20 HR LF with a solid OBP and his hit tool probably plays down a tick in the majors. The ceiling is no different than what I said a year ago, something like Markakis without the plus defence.

If Boxy gets 5-6 years of that production Winker was worth the hype.

Markakis only had one really monster year, other than that he was never a guy that was going to carry you to a championship in a 20 team league. The problem for Winker is that his defense is so poor that he'll have to hit right out of the gate and keep doing it, or he won't play.

You are correct that he's not going to carry a team, but listening to minor league defensive reports again is a mistake. He's a left fielder and always will be, but I'm reading that he's an all out effort guy out there and should be passable. His K-rates are way down and his power wows everyone in BP. He's white Melky with more power potential.
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 17, 2015 Author Posted August 17, 2015 Winker is aight but he's no Billy McKinney. I wonder how badly Boxy wants to get his stubby hands on Billy
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Winker is aight but he's no Billy McKinney. I wonder how badly Boxy wants to get his stubby hands on Billy He just traded him and s*** for James Shields in BBDL
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 17, 2015 Author Posted August 17, 2015 He just traded him and s*** for James Shields in BBDL McKinney was the headliner for Shields? rry?
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 McKinney was the headliner for Shields? rry? Shields for McKinney, Chance Cisco, Rookie Davis, and Jeff Locke. The BBDL is pretty awful.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Shields for McKinney, Chance Cisco, Rookie Davis, and Jeff Locke. The BBDL is pretty awful. what the actual f***?
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 17, 2015 Author Posted August 17, 2015 Shields for McKinney, Chance Cisco, Rookie Davis, and Jeff Locke. The BBDL is pretty awful. McKinney, Sisco*, and Davis all have appeal but none of them are top 50 prospects so moving Petco James for them is pretty weak. That person's farm is now clogged with B prospects Anybody could have traded for a pick in the 6th round and used it to draft Davis... probably.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 This is what I was alluding too yesterday. Just a few months ago, Urias was flipped for Shields. Yikes, that's worse.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 AG is the guy who gave up Urias and flipped for McKinney. I dunno, I mentioned better prospects but got shut down.
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 This is what I was alluding too yesterday. Just a few months ago, Urias was flipped for Shields. There's just a higher likelihood of ripping someone off completely in the BBDL. You should have just said that people in that league are dumn so you lowball everyone because there's a decent chance it works.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Shields for McKinney, Chance Cisco, Rookie Davis, and Jeff Locke. The BBDL is pretty awful. I wish I knew Shields was available for that take.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 It wasn't P2F your dumn ya bike I deserve that, ya f***ing knob jockey!
_King Verified Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Lol, boxy manages to rip off another owner for a pitcher. All this Winker talk reminded me he was the centerpiece for Scherzer, **sigh** 5/11/2015 Boxcar: Jayson Werth (WAS - OF) Max Scherzer (WAS - SP) Ace: Xander Bogaerts (BOS - 3B/SS) Aaron Judge (NYY - OF) #17 MiLB 2015 #25 MiLB 2015
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Whatever, close enough. come on spittin 4:20 isn't even for another 17 minutes
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Fine, the Scherzer trade wasn't bad. The point is just..... f*** boxy! f*** him. k rt.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Anybody could have traded for a pick in the 6th round and used it to draft Davis... probably. Boxy took him in the 3rd round.
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 17, 2015 Author Posted August 17, 2015 Boxy took him in the 3rd round. Oh. Probably just because I took him in the DDL and Boxy doesn't have many original thoughts
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Oh. Probably just because I took him in the DDL and Boxy doesn't have thoughts agreed

The AA adjustment just took longer than expected.

He gave me a list of guys he wanted and asked for three. I obliged. Shields is nice and all but he's not an ace, nor is he young.
