Laika Community Moderator Posted February 17, 2015 Author Posted February 17, 2015 On second thought, we have always been a league that has erred on the side of sensible and simple rules. I think we'll just keep it status quo. If they aren't in Yahoo's system at the start of the draft, then they aren't eligible. All that remains is to decide if we should explicitly state that international 'prospects' who were subject to international spending limitations be ineligible for the waiver draft regardless of whether or not they were in the system. I only suggest this because I feel like it sort of compliments the "AA" rule that we already have in place for domestic, unowned prospects. (I don't think this matters for anyone this season).

Yeah I feel like most IFAs are well below AA level anyways. I'd rather not be able to draft the few that are more advanced than risk having a younger one become waiver draft eligible.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Are we allowed to do a player+pick for pick+pick type deal? All the picks being waiver selections
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Are we allowed to do a player+pick for pick+pick type deal? All the picks being waiver selections No, it wouldn't be 1 for 1, etc,
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 17, 2015 Author Posted February 17, 2015 Are we allowed to do a player+pick for pick+pick type deal? All the picks being waiver selections MLB players + waiver picks just have to be = on both sides of the trade so that everybody ends the waiver draft with 25 roster players.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 When are we going to a ballgame again, I get aisle seat but Nick's beside me!!!
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Sorry, felt like an army explosion...*sighs*
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 18, 2015 Author Posted February 18, 2015 Looks like Sammy has 14 prospects on the spreadsheet. Did he forget to cut two, or did we just miss it in the shuffle?
BTS Community Moderator Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 I've spent some value over the past few months to maintain my farm and I like where it stands. No elite prospects but plenty of top ~200 guys. Fangraphs' list today had me pondering whether it's funnier that North was bragging about having a farm full of top-200 guys in a league that's currently rostering 223 prospects, or that half of his prospects weren't even in fangraphs' top-200.

Considering the way I've repeatedly ransacked my farm, having a Top 10 guy makes my boner rage.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 The Fangraphs list was far more friendly towards prospects than any other so far. Ruiz, Plawecki, Devers and Franco all making top 50. Sisco and Conforto in at 77 and 78. Sims and Beede (112 and 134) were guys that were lower than most lists. I also dropped a top 125 guy and traded a 45+ guy for a nothing pick as he wasn't going to make my 20. As for my others, a little surprised to not see Micah Johnson at least in the 45+ guys. I don't think any prospect did more to damage themselves last year than Rosario, Naquin is a non factor that has zero chance of getting past my June drops and Yohander Mendez is a guy that I wish I watched before picking. His delivery is awful.
BTS Community Moderator Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 First heart surgery, now this? INJURY PRONE! I'm just happy that he'll be rolling with 5 waiver draft relievers though April and probably part of May. Every little bit helps.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Urias at #4 makes me all kinds of smug Remember when several people were incredulous that King Kat traded Cliff Lee for "just Urias & a 1st"?
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 18, 2015 Author Posted February 18, 2015 Remember when several people were incredulous that King Kat traded Cliff Lee for "just Urias & a 1st"? We are all a bunch of incredulous jerks, but it's ok. That's why we've been outcast by society to the internet.
BTS Community Moderator Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 That's unfortunate, but with the free extra spots for spring trash I might just unearth something interesting. You'll probably find 2015's Dellin Betances and another guy who will be moved to a rotation and be a consensus top-20 pitcher by opening day 2016.
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 18, 2015 Author Posted February 18, 2015 Fangraphs 200 was kind to me Urias - 4 Harvey - 36 Manaea - 37 Mondesi - 61 Pompey - 80 Fedde - 95 (pleasant surprise) Nick Williams - 136 AJ Cole - HM (kinda s*****) Arano and Jose Ramirez didn't make it and have little chance to make it past my cuts later on. Chris Taylor is super low upside so I wouldn't expect him to make it, but I do think he can be an IRL 50 FV player some day. Justin Williams could maybe have been an HM but wasn't.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 If we're doing this 3- Addison Russel 7- Lucas Giolito 54- Sean Newcomb 70- Aaron Sanchez 71- Alex Meyer 72- Nick Gordon 83- Trea Turner 99- Rob Kaminsky 134- Tyler Beede 139- Hunter Dozier HM- Rafael Montero Not as kind to me as some lists, but I'll take it
BTS Community Moderator Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 101. Frazier 113. Montas 128. Howard HM - Walker, Refsnyder, Davidson Pretty sure I have the worst farm in the league. I do think Refsnyder is very underrated though.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Frazier is also pretty underrated.
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 18, 2015 Author Posted February 18, 2015 The rankings on this Fangraphs list seem really, really good.
BTS Community Moderator Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Frazier is also pretty underrated. On this list yea, but he gets his due elsewhere. Refsnyder has done nothing but hit everywhere, is MLB ready and projected by ZiPS and Steamer to be a 1.5-3 win player this year and gets no love anywhere.
BTS Community Moderator Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Wo, jaysblue's only guy on this list is Michael Chavis (HM). I don't have the worst farm! And his only picks are 61 and 114.

BTS Community Moderator Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 I'm pulling a Chappy... Your team looks good enough to warrant it. I guess the only downside is having literally nothing to trade to go out and fill a hole without subtracting from your MLB team.
