The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 I'll do #69! And you should always pick 69 over 66...
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 lots of offers coming in and I'm shocked nobody has offered me a budding superstar yet . I'll certainly be dealing him by the end of the day, so if any offer has come in that needs quicker resolution than that, please let me know so I can keep that in mind.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 I'd send you Chen for him if you really don't get a better offer. Sorry bud, better offer on the table.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 I was really hoping so for your sake, lol. not better enough for my liking
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 http://i.imgur.com/2eE5dZo.jpg Speedy, you dick, Liriano was obviously the choice here. Hah. I was never going to deal EE in a move where pitchers were the feature. Also...graphs!
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Hah. I was never going to deal EE in a move where pitchers were the feature. Also...graphs! Those look like skid marks. Seems appropriate.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Can someone graph K rates for those leagues and timeframes? Wily Mo Gallo and his mistake-hitting ways will make a fine Japanese Home Run King some day.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Anybody else remember when Brandon Wood was a lock for 40 HR? Good times.
Laika Community Moderator Posted May 30, 2014 Author Posted May 30, 2014 Not really understanding the utility of charting ISO against HR rate.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Not really understanding the utility of charting ISO against HR rate. I think the point was just that Gallo has the best power in recent low minors history by a wide margin, both in terms of HR rate and ISO.
Nox Verified Member Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Lol comparing Wily Mo's minor league numbers to Gallo's. http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=pena--002wil
TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 From Law's chat today...Kyle from Dallas = Grant from the Soo Kyle (Dallas) Does Joey Gallo warrant a call-up to AA ball? From listening to the games I get the impression that he can sometimes be bored at the plate by not being challenged. Klaw (2:18 PM) No, he doesn't. I can't say I advise anyone to scout off the radio.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Can we stop talking about Pedro Alvarez 2,.0 plz
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Guys, enough about the next Mark Trumbo.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Clint Eastwood is the only guy on this earth that can successfully scout by listening to the radio. Grant's full of s*** if he says he can.

Nox Verified Member Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Not really understanding the utility of charting ISO against HR rate. The slope of the line doesn't mean much in terms of something real but it's a convenient way to show how much he stands out in 2 metrics (even though they're tightly related).
Nox Verified Member Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Strikeouts are bad!!! <- Analysis in this thread
TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 I'd like to point out that Jim Negrych had a .370/.448/.510 line in the Carolina league as a 22 year old.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Strikeouts are bad!!! <- Analysis in this thread Bad isn't the issue, it's whether or not they're so bad that they're indicative of a fatal flaw that won't be overcome at higher levels.
Nox Verified Member Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 I'd like to point out that Jim Negrych had a .370/.448/.510 line in the Carolina league as a 22 year old. More importantly, he only struck out 12% of the time. ZOMG how did he not make it? I thought he was the previous Mookie Betts!??!?
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 So if anyone doesn't want to wait for a Gallo to develop, Mark Reynolds is available right now!
Nox Verified Member Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Bad isn't the issue, it's whether or not they're so bad that they're indicative of a fatal flaw that won't be overcome at higher levels. I'm aware of what the implication means. Obviously people would take a 230 wRC+ if he struck out 26% of the time. The power is huge, his swing and miss is down (more than his raw K rates even) and he's basically no swinging at balls this year. Not sure what people want exactly.
Nox Verified Member Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 So if anyone doesn't want to wait for a Gallo to develop, Mark Reynolds is available right now! Joking aside, what would be wrong with a Mark Reynolds clone in fantasy? .350 wOBA for 5 years from a 3B is pretty useful.
Nox Verified Member Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 So if anyone doesn't want to wait for a Gallo to develop, Mark Reynolds is available right now! Zips thinks he's .349 ROS? Wow, that seems high.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 That Mark Reynolds 40/20 campaign won a lot of people fantasy championships that year.
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Zips thinks he's .349 ROS? Wow, that seems high. With Belt injured he's actually my starting 1B in the DDL right now. Projections are weirdly bullish on him.
