NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 What exactly is the point in owning 13 picks, when you already have 4 guys owned There's a limit on prospects (12) but none on picks... makes sense to get all the picks. It's a market inefficiency. Matt Barnes is available for an upgrade into the first round. Arcia and Cuthbert too for marginal upgrades.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 How is that a market ineffeciency? In all likelihood, you'll be dissolving assets with nothing to show for it.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 I traded Franklin in FC last year for Gausman, right before his OPS fell below .800 for good.

It's not, I just like the term "market inefficiency." I like to think I'm Billy Beane. If one or two picks get dissolved, okay. The last-rounders were acquired as throw-ins to already-acceptable trades. I won't lose sleep over it. I may have a few tricks up my sleeve though. Cut-down isn't until Saturday!
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 I legit lol'd. I just laughed out loud in public at the Billy Beane comment. I'm one of the few guys looking to add picks and even I have no interest in those 6th rounders. They're basically worthless.

Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 North is going to monopolize all 20 picks in the 6th round and sell them at top dollar. It's brilliant.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Anyone else notice how horrid Rosell Herrera has been this year? .012 ISO in high A ball
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Nick Tepesch is available for a 2nd round pick if anyone is looking for young starting pitching that could help their MLB roster.
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 3, 2014 Author Posted June 3, 2014 Anyone else notice how horrid Rosell Herrera has been this year? .012 ISO in high A ball Slugging .265 in the CALL. My goodness. (the entire league slugs .411. 4.42 average ERA).
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 God damn. Danny Duffy just got a early second round pick, and his numbers are quite mediocre.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Nick Tepesch is available for a 2nd round pick if anyone is looking for young starting pitching that could help their MLB roster. I'll gladly sell you Tepesch for a 2nd in FC. Done deal?
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Anyone else notice how horrid Rosell Herrera has been this year? .012 ISO in high A ball I noticed. I thought he would be my top target in this draft now he's not even on my board.
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 3, 2014 Author Posted June 3, 2014 Brandon Cumpton available for an early 2nd as well
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Any contender want another save collector? I'm thinking of dealing Rodney.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Well Duffy's got some pedigree, Tepesch has...uh...sorry, I don't mean to be a dick and it's veering that way. Subconsciously I cringed about the price of your other SPs in our talks I think, lol. Meh, Duffy hasn't been anything special as a starter and its not like he's that young. As for Phil Hughes and Kyle Lohse, I think my asking price is more than fair.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 I'll gladly sell you Tepesch for a 2nd in FC. Done deal? I'm alright thanks
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Brandon Cumpton available for an early 2nd as well Sent you a wise offer.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 I've been asking for SP and MIF help for weeks? Where were you turds? Howie Kendrick OTB. Send me a wise offer.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 I don't recall a price being mentioned, just being lectured on how awesome they are (ribbing you, haha.) Everything is awesome my friend Danny Duffy xFIP 4.88 this season and 4.65 xFIP career Nick Tepesch 4.04 xFIP this season; 3.82 xFIP last season and career 3.86 xFIP
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 3, 2014 Author Posted June 3, 2014 Weren't you in on Duffy for a top 25? No, why would you say that? I'm not a big fan of Duffy. 97 from the left side and sublime minor league peripherals only mean so much. Nick Tepesch has a better career xFIP... just sayin'.
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 3, 2014 Author Posted June 3, 2014 Howie Kendrick will retire before he gets off the tradeblock. Poor guy.
BTS Community Moderator Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Howie Kendrick will retire before he gets off the tradeblock. Poor guy. We should try to find out how many people have asked on him. I have, so there's one.
BTS Community Moderator Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 I just nabbed him for Sanchez, yes, IDGAF!! f***, I feel like my offer was better.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 North told me that, lol. I don't know if NJH was going to be the end recipient. You approached me with what I had asked for so I had to tell you what was up lol. --- Duffy's a 25-year-old four-pitch lefty up to 97 with a repeatable delivery. I would've liked to keep him long-term, but I also wanted a top 25 pick to play around with and he was expendable with my SP depth. What was the trade? It was just Duffy for the #25 pick. Spanky had picks to burn with a nearly-full farm and I was shopping for a second rounder.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 What was the trade? Spanky has drank too many Buds, he's crazy. We haven't discussed anything regarding Howie Kendrick.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Just admit you ******** me bro, lol. Re: negotiations, you approaching me created a confusing situation, but it worked itself out. No ******** on the scouting report. I made sure to have Duffy included in that November five-team deal! I do like him. We should try to find out how many people have asked on him. I have, so there's one. I floated a blockbuster idea involving Kendrick near the end of last season and into the offseason.
