Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 I love the power rankings/team review idea. Might do some this weekend.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 I like my 5, 10 and 25 position.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 I like Boxy being my sleeper team. Got a lot of scrappy players (dirtbags)
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I like Boxy being my sleeper team. Either Boxy paid you to make this comment, he has naked pictures of your girlfriend and he's blackmailing you with them, or he hacked his way onto your account and posted this. There's literally a greater chance of getting gangraped by a pack of unicorns than Boxy winning the championship next season.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 pack of unicorns I believe that's called a blessing of unicorns, thank you very much.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I believe that's called a blessing of unicorns, thank you very much. That's something lots of guys know. -bows out of thread and returns to BBDL-
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I'm looking to add one more top starting pitcher before the season begins if possible. Howie Kendrick, Victor Martinez, Tex, Victorino, Soriano, OTB. Also could include a pitcher like Turner, Hughes or Peralta in any deal if a team needs a starter back.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I believe that's called a blessing of unicorns, thank you very much. I am scared to ask how you know that.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I am scared to ask how you know that. Just like GD said... It's something a lot of guys know.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 So I've been asked by two teams about Cobb over the last week, so I guess I might as well say that I would only move him in a deal for an impact OF or 1B in his prime. Asking you about Cobb is right up there with asking Dinger about Fernandez and FTD about Trout in terms of trade message futility lol.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Asking you about Cobb is right up there with asking Dinger about Fernandez and FTD about Trout in terms of trade message futility lol. +1 (not that I did) I just assumed BTS had an irrational Rays boner and valued Cobb as borderline SP1. I've been doing mocks for PL and have been chosing between Cobb and Shields a lot in Rd 5, but I usually lean towards Shields for the IP floor. Is anyone ready to buy Cobb as a bonafide SP2 yet? I can't see any way he posts a sub-3 ERA again this year, though I do love a ground ball beast.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Wait, did GD and KingKat just out themselves as bronies ITT? Jesus christ, no, you missed my reference by about a mile and a half. http://i.imgur.com/YwgbT16.gif
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 It's from that show with Hyde from That '70s Show. I only know because I see the promo with that joke in it about 17 times per night when I watch Jon Stewart.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I wouldn't buy into Cobb as a SP1 since he hasn't even pitched more than 150 IP in a season. I like him, though I'd consider him a borderline SP2 just barely. He's more of a SP3 in my books.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Any manager looking for a solid bat send me a PM. Looking to shake things up with my squad.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 seriously, why the f*** can't they mix up their promos? I can't even listen to the one for ground floor any more, my twitch muscles are highly developed from leaping for the remote to mute that *******. YES. (capfiller)
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I think Cobb is a clear top-100 player in most any format at this point, and entering his age-26 season he's s dynasty stud. Guy was on track for 15 wins, 175 Ks, and sub-3 ERA last year before taking a ball off the melon. He's definitely a Top 100 player, he's in that tier with Shields & Medlen and some other SP2s in the 75-100 range. I probably wouldn't buy him as more than a 3.50 ERA/7.5 K/9 guy going forward tho.

Guy was on track for 15 wins, 175 Ks, and sub-3 ERA last year before taking a ball off the melon. In dynasty, definitely. In a yearly league, I'd find it tough to rank him in the top 100, though it's plausible. I think he'd fall between 100-125 for sure. Like Dinger said, you likely would lean towards Shields in a yearly league due to the durability and IP's he provides.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Who would you guys take between Cobb and Wacha in a dynasty?
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Who would you guys take between Cobb and Wacha in a dynasty? Likely Wacha since he's only 22 and pitches in the NL. Redraft league, tough debate between the both of them though I'd likely lean towards Cobb in 2014.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I think you nailed the K/9, but there's some definite upside there with the ERA I think. His career xFIP is 3.37, and I could see his ERA beating that by a bit over the next few years, especially in front of that defense. This may be a surprise, but I'm pretty bullish on Cobb. Fair enough, elite GB% and elite defense is a sexy match. I'd still be pretty surprised if he posts a sub-3 ERA over 200 though. I'd probably be thinking of ways to try to get him from you if I didn't already have like 8 SP2s.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Spanky, what do you want for Tim Hudson?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Likely Wacha since he's only 22 and pitches in the NL. Redraft league, tough debate between the both of them though I'd likely lean towards Cobb in 2014. I'd take Cobb in a redraft in consideration of Wacha's IP, but it's pretty close for me a in a dynasty. I never really believed in either of them until they shoved in the big leagues.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I'm very glad you rejected all the Holliday for Miller/Jennings offers I made last offseason lol. Dick.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Check out my rotation in the salary 30-team dynasty league I'm in: Darvish, Bumgarner, Latos, Bailey, Salazar, Hudson, Peralta, Capuano, Volquez, McDonald, Bedard Signed those last couple of guys to stash in my minors for some depth.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I'm very glad you rejected all the Holliday for Miller/Jennings offers I made last offseason lol. Dick. lol. Didn't you get Goldy for Holliday?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 lol. Didn't you get Goldy for Holliday? And Gausman! Reacquired Holliday a year later tho lol.
