The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 I hear that getting starters that can go in your RP spot is the only way to go.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 I hear that getting starters that can go in your RP spot is the only way to go. No, the other way around! I expect SP-eligible relievers will be a hot commodity. I would keep Brian Matusz if he held onto the eligibility. You should only have a SP in a RP slot if you have >5 starters going that day.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 I sent out a bunch of Proboards PMs yesterday... check your messages people! ='(
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 ='( Alright I sent you something Also, if anyone is looking to trade down from a top 10 MiLB pick, PM me.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 Quiet??? This league is very active, mostly because we've just passed the inaugural season. I'm curious... how many trade messages do you guys send out/receive a week on average? Also, sent you a Proboards PM Spank
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 I'm curious... how many trade messages do you guys send out/receive a week on average? Also, sent you a Proboards PM Spank I usually send them out in masses, which is what I suspect most people do. Could be 10 one day and then none for the next 2 weeks. I doubt anyone really is going to be very active from novemember to mid Jan. Im confident 80 percent of the moves made since the playoffs ended have been due to boredom.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 You'd think so, but I can't even get a draft pick for Huston Street or Grant Balfour right now. Once the season starts, you can get a 3rd round pick for your average closer, but that's about as high as their value seems to get. Yep. The key is when the season starts. Right now people don't want to burn one of their 20 spots PLUS a pick for a reliever. When the season starts and they have 25 spots I expect a lot more action. You're right though, it is hard to sell in the reliever market.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 I've gotten 2 closers this off-season, and the highest pick I gave up was a late 5th rounder. I also had to deal players though to make it work, but they were players that weren't on my 20-man roster.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 I'm curious... how many trade messages do you guys send out/receive a week on average? Also, sent you a Proboards PM Spank usually none.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 I've had 94 trade inquiries/messages since the season ended.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Can someone please clarify why people are trying to veto my deal for charlie f***ing Morton involving me getting back basically a 120th and 140th pick back. They're very mediocre picks..but did I miss the memo where Charlie Morton suddenly became a reliable decent pitcher..even in a deep league

I feel I'll be dropping a younger and better pitcher than Morton so I have no issue with the deal
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 where do you see a veto attempt? I feel I'll be dropping a younger and better pitcher than Morton so I have no issue with the deal It's for a different dynasty league. Im just confused, like did I miss the memo when Morton actually became a decent fantasy option. Its also a salary cap and dont want to pay him 4 million
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 It's for a different dynasty league. Im just confused, like did I miss the memo when Morton actually became a decent fantasy option. Its also a salary cap and dont want to pay him 4 million That's weird. Morton's barely relevant even in the deepest of leagues. I dislike veto systems. People use them for their own benefit and not as a collusion-prevention method.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 I actually like Chalrie Morton. with that elite GB rate, if he keeps the K/BB above 2 like he did in 2013 he should win a lot of games for a good time while putting up a sub-4 ERA. A thirty year old pitcher who had 1 decent year at his age 30 season and that wasnt even over a full year sample mind you..is being traded for mediocre draft picks because I can't afford to pay his projected 4 million salary when he's not even top 5 on my SP chart, and its getting veto votes/talk. That's the part that kills me. I just joined this league and people are seriously trying to pull s*** like this.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Kevin Gregg is available for anyone looking for a closer. Best closer in baseball guys! Looking for a pick or a free pint of beer!

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Morton is Waiver Draft fodder without a doubt. League voting on trades is pretty derp also.
Laika Community Moderator Posted November 8, 2013 Author Posted November 8, 2013 I'm already thinking of quitting a dynasty league I'm in, I just joined and the veto ******** is driving me insane, with the same bitches crying over every deal, and not one trade has even been close to egregious. You have to go to kangaroo court and explain your reasoning for a trade. Der dumn!!! Quit so you can pay more attention to this league
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Morton is Waiver Draft fodder without a doubt. League voting on trades is pretty derp also. Its a very deep league so every MLB player is ownable ( I have thames on my bench). He's just making 4 mill out of my 115 cap and I can use the picks. It isnt even about the return for me mostly, just that its some scrub depth player that people are honestly complaining about..its completly asinine
TheHurl Site Manager Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Quit that league immediately. Do something better with your time. wait, we can quit leagues?
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 With BA's Team Top 10s coming out maybe we should come up with our top 10 for our own teams..
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 With BA's Team Top 10s coming out maybe we should come up with our top 10 for our own teams.. haha, poor Jesse Hahn and Max Kepler. Top 10's may be a little 'inclusive', but it might be mildly entertaining to do a top 5 prospects from each team. If anyone wants to send me top 5's for each team I would be happy to compile them so we have an aggregate top 5 for each team. BTW, I stress 'mildly entertaining'... its a boring time in baseball haha.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 I don't even have 5 decent prospects. I've got like 2.5.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 The WAR Puigs Top 10 Prospects 1. Yasiel Puig 2. Mark Appel 3. Aaron Sanchez 4. Rafael Montero 5. James Paxton 6. Delino DeShields 7. Joey Gallo 8. Rafael de Paula 9. Mason Williams 10. Kyle Gibson -------- HMs: Phil Bickford, Matt Purke
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 1. Some guy I traded to you 2. Some guy I traded to you 3. Some guy I traded to you 4. Some guy I traded to you 5. Some guy I traded to you 6. Some guy I traded to you 7. Some guy I traded to you 8. Tyler Glasnow 9. Miguel Almonte 10. Marco Gonzales
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Also, interesting note about DeShields, he didn't even make the Astros Top 10 according to Baseball Prospectus. They have heavily implied that he has significant makeup/want issues.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 No49 Pharm Update 1. Matt Davidson 2. Tyrone Taylor 3. Orlando Arcia 4. Luis Heredia 5. Stephen Piscotty 6. Cheslor Cuthbert Taylor and Arcia will both rank highly in the Brewers list, Keith Law says Taylor is 'probably' his #1 Brewer. Davidson should be top three on the D'Backs and Heredia and Piscotty should make their teams' list. Jason Parks will probably rank my top four guys in his top 100 -- in particular he loves Arcia (and is why I took him lol).
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Also, interesting note about DeShields, he didn't even make the Astros Top 10 according to Baseball Prospectus. They have heavily implied that he has significant makeup/want issues. How could he not be on the Astro's top 10. DeShields is underrated I feel, he has 80 speed and he put up a .317/.405/.873 line as a 20yr old in A+. Plus he plays 2B and should be able to stick there. I don't care about any makeup issues as long as he keeps performing. If the Astros are so down on him he could be a good buy low for the Bluejays. They have Jose Altuve for 2B anyway.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Jason Parks loves a bunch of athletic, glove-first SS's who won't be fantasy relevent. Arcia, Mondesi, Paulino, etc. Decent real-life players, but fantasy non-factors. Even Lindor might not be much of a fantasy asset. Parks does not give a f*** about fantasy (and I quote).
