If you don't clear roster space by midnight then Myers becomes a free agent. You are exploiting a loophole.

I'm dropping Blanco anyways if I make a deal with Cats Ass anyways, so you can add Myers/drop Blanco then. Me and him are close to a deal anyways, so it should likely get done.

not sure where I stand on a future considerations deal...or a rental space deal. It's only Miles Head so I don't care but what if a playoff team said rather than drop a player I'll give you Mesoraco at the deadline so I can add a guy that's going to help my roster now but in the off season I'll give you a 3rd rounder back for him. I don't mind back room deals but I think something should move in both deals. Such as I'll give you a 6th for Head. If I make room for Head I'll give you back a 3rd. Just my opinion and not picking on this deal. I think we should think about worst case scenarios before setting a precedent.

I'm personally not in favour of PTBNLs. I agree with what Kev said, assets should need to change hands in both directions.

I'm still thinking about it going forward. As one of the guys who has to process all this stuff, I definitely don't want player loaning to become a "thing".
Posted
Yeah I don't have any issue with this deal, I'm sure it was all on the up and up and it's fun to throw stipulations on deals to get them done but it's also in the pools best interest to make sure that a bad precedent isn't set in case we all aren't so friendly in the future.

The differences between the top and the bottom of the league is getting much bigger, there are the occasional upsets but the top 8 seem to keep winning (two teams in the top 8 lost both were 7-6 losses and one was a 4 vs. 5 match up)
Posted
Yep I've noticed this. I'm always checking up on NJH's matchups to see if I can gain some ground but it never happens lol. He and the other division winners are always winning.

Luckily, one of you or 2nd Leg has to lose next week. You also still have to face NJH twice, so those weeks are really going to decide the Turkey Bacon Club Division winner.

I think Nick and I are the only two teams who have 5 top ten teams remaining on the schedule. Everyone has at least 3 though.

Tiers would probably go:

1 - BALCO (probably ends up in 1st)

2 - Wrench, 2ndLeg, ButtStallions, Kats, B.Inge (probably end up 2,3,5,6,7)

3 - Slayers, T&T, TrueCards (probably end up 4,8,9 - one misses playoffs)

4- THB, Taijuan, ISO, Oppo (all need a push to get in, but still have good shots)

Power rankings seem to call for T&T and ISO to climb; London Slayers to slip out of playoffs; 2ndLeg to climb into tier 1

The end of season divisional play is going to be awesome. Kats is very much breathing down my neck (smells like cat food).

Farm System Power Rankings

Now that Baseball Prospectus and Baseball America have released their Mid-Season Top 50 lists, I decided to run a fun analysis to see how our farm teams stacked up against each other. I used a straight up reverse points system, so the #1 ranked player received 50 pts and the #50 player received 1 point. Honourable mentions also received 1 point each.

First, the BA Power Rankings (no 2013 draftees were included):

Thanks for doing this Dinger!

I'd have placed a lot better had Zach Wheeler still been down, he's a top 10 guy. Gibson possibly would have placed too. I'll probably call those guys up soon though if they produce.

You have to draw the line somewhere. Puig would be an immediate 40-50 pts if he counted. Gibson doesn't have enough IP to matter, he wouldn't have placed.

Posted
It's also important to keep in mind that there's a pretty big difference between a 50 to 100 prospect and a fringe prospect, and these PRs don't take into account good prospects in the 50-100 range (except honourable mentions). The BA Rankings also don't take into account 2013 draftees, and Kris Bryant was excluded from the BP list, where he would have ranked around 25-30 according to Jason Parks.

Thanks, nice work! A lot of teams have a player absent from the list because of a call up. Puig for me. Appel will also appear high on this list in the offseason I imagine.

You could probably add another 80-90 pts to your combined score for Puig, and 20-30 for Appel. All in all you definitely have a Top 3-5 farm system.

Posted
What doesn't make sense to me is why BA would include Skaggs who has been making starts in the majors the past couple years but not include Puig. Are the lists composed of only players that are in the minors when they put the lists together?

I'm looking to add an OF or possible a 2B for a draft pick(s).

Dude bro, I have several OF available. They range from young to old; from good to meh; from CF to not so CF; from Asian to Mexican; from colon to semi colon to improperly utilized punctuation. Anything to suit your tastes.

Posted
Well teams that promoted their top prospects, have 3 or so guys in the 50-100 range and spent a lot of their picks in the June 2013 draft on the MLB 2013 Rule 4 draft players are going to look like we have nothing at all.
