They're over the cap floor before this, but I'm guessing they think this will help them stay over if they move salary out during the season.

 

On the other hand, Tierney is the only remotely interesting player likely to move in a deadline deal, so Dorian must actually a) think Stepan is good, and B) it matters that Stepan is good.

 

I hate this f***ing team.

 

I guess it's B for sure, they made a good trade the other day, they got the 2nd back, Coburn and Paquette for LTIR guys Gaborik and Nilsson, so basically free for taking on salary. He's going for it! ;)

The set up sort of puts the weaker teams at an even further disadvantage. The bottom spots are earned through the division II tournament, but the problem is that this occurs a year in advance. Often seems like these teams are qualifying based on a strong crop of 19 year olds who are then too old to play the next year. Having the division II tournament in the months prior to the WJC would at least make some improvement to the field without having to contract.

Yeah, he was projected to get 5/30, now the Blues might be getting him for 1 year at half that AAV, crazy.
