One of these years they'll figure it out. A couple of seasons ago they started on time every night but blew all kinds of leads in the 3rd period. Now they can't be beaten in the 3rd period when holding a lead but getting to the point where they have a lead is a struggle as they get scored on first so often.

Oh dear God, Brian Burke.

Yes, I know it's my own Tweet, but I had to share it here. He traded picks that turned into Rakell and John Gibson to get Biggs, too.

The last place Ottawa Senators have three stars in the press box waiting to be traded - the 3rd, 4th, and 5th star players to be dealt in 9 months, and are being completely dominated by New Jersey. They do not own their first round pick.

f*** you Ovi... f*** you hard, that shot is insane!

Didn't he kick Hyman's stick away? Should've been in the box...but of course not cause Leafs.

Yeah he did, the Buds have been the better team 5 on 5 and here we are. A goal here late would be nice.

C'mon... a festivus miracle please.

Also, Ray Ferraro's really annoying.

Worst commentator in the game - he even somehow edges out Pierre McGuire in that department.

Can a franchise even come back from trading their first round pick and then finishing dead last?

I don't think so.

At the very least, that's a 10 year kiss of death.

Ottawa and Edmonton are so profoundly sad.

Has a professional sports team in North America ever traded a pick in a win-now move that ended up being the first overall? I can't think of it ever happening.

Well the Seguin pick was close.

I know the 1980 NHL draft had picks 1, 3, and 4 moved in trades from previous years. Three hall of famers ended up going in the top 6.

Looking it up now - in 1976 the Colorado Rockies traded to Montreal the right for Montreal to swap first round picks in the 1980 draft, in exchange for Ron Andruff and Sean Shanahan (two players on Montreal's AHL team). Colorado ended up being awful in 79 so Montreal swapped picks. They then passed on Coffey, Larry Murphy, and Denis Savard and took Doug Wickenheiser 1-1.

hahahahaha

Man Colorado is really unoriginal when it comes to team names.
