Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 The Kings were f***ed, that was not a penalty.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 The Kings were f***ed, that was not a penalty. That call was egregious. There is zero consistency in the officiating in this league.
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 The Kings were f***ed, that was not a penalty. Also, buddy tripped Doughty on the one Oilers goal... But still the Kings blow and have no business not getting blown out the rest of this series. Can't believe they won two games.

If they had any semblance of goaltending before acquiring Korpisalo, they'd have run away with the division.

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 Imagine complaining about playoff hockey... The Bruins were sublime tonight, perfect road game. They're going to be tough to beat. I'll complain whenever I want Spanky. I watched a guy cross check a player in the throat/neck twice in a row with no call. I just don't think hockey needs that to be compelling and exciting. I understand players can't play at this level for the 82 game regular season - they would be dead and I do like a bit more physicality in the playoffs, but to simply allow all the stick work seems unnecessary.

I prefer Olympic hockey the best IMO. Faster skating game, more skill being displayed and not as much physicality as in the NHL Playoffs.

It's the highest level hockey v. the highest competition. It's f***ing fantastic hockey. I guess the issue is the NHL doesn't have enough talent for teams to play playoff games like the Olympics are played. Instead we need to have discussions about adding Wayne f***ing Simmons back into the lineup so he can help fight useless players like Jeanot and Maroon.

In Olympic hockey, there is no way a top country like Canada, USA, Russia, Sweden etc., even rosters useless players like Wayne Simmonds or Tanner Jeannot. Olympic hockey is really the highest level of hockey, more than the NHL Playoffs. From watching the Canada/USA Gold Medal game in 2010, you'll never see that level of hockey in a NHL Playoff game. Yes granted, NHL Playoff series are Best of 7, though I bet if you had those 2010 teams playing a Best of 7, would have been amazing hockey every game!
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 Imagine comparing Olympics to Stanley cup playoffs... Don't watch then.
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 The Olympics are a joke. Most of the games are horrible.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 The Olympics are a joke. Most of the games are horrible. Correct, until its the top 3 or 4 countries playing each other. Switzerland vs Germany can f*** off though.

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 The Olympics are a joke. Most of the games are horrible. I thought it was obvious we aren't talking about the Canada v. Jamaica games ffs. And of course we're talking about when the NHL players participate. The 2010 Golden Goal game was f***ing incredible. OK perhaps we should have clarified that.

They could be playing f***ing ringette man. If there is a gold medal on the line and you get prime Sidney Crosby doing stuff late and close, it's going to be amazing. Olympic Hockey is like figure skating with more padding and the occasional tickle fight
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 Imagine comparing Olympics to Stanley cup playoffs... Don't watch then. Should read my posts. I said when the elite teams play against each other like Canada, USA, Russia, Sweden etc. A lot more talent is on display. I couldn't care about watching crappy players like Wayne Simmonds or Ty Domi play in the Playoffs only because they act as tough guys on the ice.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 The Olympics are a joke. Most of the games are horrible. Should have read my post and the specifics. Sure if it's Canada vs. Italy, that game will be a joke. I was talking about when the elite teams play each other. You're watching the best of the best square off, talent wise!

When was the last time they were allowed to participate? 2014?

Yeah I think the last time NHL players participated were in 2014 in Sochi. So almost 10 years.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 Imagine comparing Olympics to Stanley cup playoffs... Don't watch then. The ironic thing is, the team that you support isn't even built for the type of play in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. They're more suited for Olympic hockey. Even during the Sundin years, where they actually went past the first round several times, they weren't a tough hard hitting team.

Agreed with this The Leafs core players are better suited for the international game. Field hockey.

Disagree, Tucker, Domi, McCabe, Clark.... those were tough Leaf teams. Other teams hated to play them. This edition is definitely soft. Chances to lay the body on the Lightning players, I'm waiting on it, and.... nope. TB guys have space and have bo fear going anywhere on the ice against anyone.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 Leafs playing scared Much better this period, that was a shitshow in the 1st.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 4-1 lead heading into the 3rd. Leafs have them right where they want them.
