Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2020 Posted August 10, 2020 They certainly did. Indeed. They sure did. At least Toronto will finally see playoff hockey past the first round
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2020 Posted August 10, 2020 I can't get over how epic Friedman's beard is. Whoa, wtf? If he could always grow that, why was he clean shaven all these years? He should go to jail for that.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2020 Posted August 10, 2020 Korpisalo killed the Buds, hope we get Lafreniere. I think being a s***** team killed the Leaves, actually
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2020 Posted August 10, 2020 They should start a club with the Jets. lol
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 10, 2020 Posted August 10, 2020 I've been basking in the glory of Leaf fan tears this morning, and the prevailing wisdom seems to be that in order to move forward Toronto has to replace... Freddy Andersen?

Freddy Andersen? Pay your top 3 forwards $30M and blame goaltending after a shutout loss, makes sense.
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 10, 2020 Posted August 10, 2020 Toronto would be better if they: - did not sign Taveras - kept Kadri - spent the savings on nearly any defensive upgrade(s) over Cody Ceci and friends.

Kadri and his two way game would be a way better fit as a 2C behind Matthews, and at barely half the price. The savings definitely could have went to blueline upgrades. I get that Tavares was a star player who sort of fell in their lap, and they felt they couldn't pass up that opportunity, but it was not the right move for a young upcoming team.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2020 Posted August 10, 2020 So at what point will Shanahan or Dubas be on the hot seat, or are they still the golden boys being let down by the players?
JG34 Verified Member Posted August 10, 2020 Posted August 10, 2020 Taveras was one of the best Leafs this series, his play was just overshadowed by a bad turnover. Leafs were definitely exposed on defense. Once Muzzin went down you knew things weren’t going to be pretty. Sandin and Liljegren need a bit more seasoning, but they have high upsides. Pair that with the signing of Lehtonen who was one of the top KHL defensemen and they have a bit of help on the way. I imagine Johnsson and Kappy are on the trade block for some defensive help as they are replaceable by Robertson in the near future. If for some reason the Leafs actually win the draft lottery then things will get real interesting.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2020 Posted August 10, 2020 Grew up Bruins fan in NS thx to Orr etc and the Habs were always our mortal enemies. My view hasn't changed much on that but I find myself also now not liking the hapless Leafs...maybe even a developed an irrational dislike. I think it was what I perceived as arrogance around Babcock and Shanahan (who I liked as a player). Early on they weren't going to spend their way to success and blah blah blah...now they have loaded on up on picks and signings and still can't get over the top with all that talent.

Laika Community Moderator Posted August 10, 2020 Posted August 10, 2020 The entire hockey world is now laughing at the arrogance of Dubas. I don't think so. Half the hockey world is envious of Toronto's core. The other half is happy that Dubas and friends haven't been able to perfect the team but they aren't exactly a laughing stock.

BTS Community Moderator Posted August 10, 2020 Posted August 10, 2020 Woud be nice to see Lafreniere go to Nashville. Well-run, consistently competitive team that has only had one top-10 pick since 2008.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2020 Posted August 10, 2020 The Bruins are a great watch if you mute their announcers. Everything Toronto wishes it was as a hockey team. Haha yeah Jack Edwards is just sickening

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2020 Posted August 10, 2020 Can’t wait to see the conspiracy pandemonium if the Leafs get the top pick here.
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 10, 2020 Posted August 10, 2020 Bettman is just so smug. The interviewer is f***ing awful
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2020 Posted August 10, 2020 Weighted balls or helium? How they rigging this?
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2020 Posted August 10, 2020 LETS GO! Rangers get the kid! Suck it Spanky
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 10, 2020 Posted August 10, 2020 How very lucky for the NHL that the best prospect in the draft goes to a team located in the league's biggest media market that happens to be on the rise after years of mediocrity.

I'm really glad the Leaves didn't get it. God that would have been insufferable.

So you're saying the leafs are going to keep the core 4 next year and the year after that. Who's their goalie going to be in 2 years?

Who's their goalie going to be in 2 years? How the f*** would I know what they will do? They could keep it in tact and trust the process or they could make huge moves.
