*Nashville (16)

*N.Y. Rangers (18)

*Minnesota (21)

Not going to lie it would be cool to see Lafreniere play with McDavid or Crosby. Hilarious they even have a chance at getting him though. What a farce

It'll be the Rangers with 1st pick. Nothing would make Bettman happier.

It is a joke that he can end up with one of those teams and not say Detroit, who is crying out for high end talent.

He 'will' end up with one of those teams.

You so were typing this out in the middle of the Leafs game then had to think for a few hours of a way to post this without looking like an idiot.

It's great. Maybe they shouldn't be a s***** team that tanks?

I wish stuff like this happened in sports all the time so terrible front offices can't mask their terribleness with "trust the process" type slogans.

If I had my way, I'd set up the draft so the teams that make the playoffs go 1-16 in reverse order of standings with the lottery then 17-32 for the rest. If you JUST miss the playoffs, you pick #32. You tank, you pick #17. If you make the playoffs as a s***** team that gets beat up in the first round, you're getting a lottery pick. That oughta stop the tanking.

St. Louis was the worst team last year, until they weren't. If you get 16 wins or this year 19 wins against much fewer losses at a time when they don't give out participation points for making it to overtime, you're the best team.

I don't condone actively tanking (young players need to grow in a competitive environment) but there is a cycle to pro sports. Teams like Detroit and Anaheim were strong for many years, were able to supplement their core with strong drafting despite later picks. But eventually it catches up with you and your top end talent ages out. It's very difficult to truly replenish your top end talent in the NHL without early picks. Most of the better teams were bad for a period of time and gained some of their best players in the process.

Toronto is only competing right now because they finally decided that they needed a young core to build around. Slowed things down for a couple years and stockpiled assets, hit the mark on their early picks (Matthews, Marner, Rielly etc). If you take issue with building a team in that manner I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

He's saying you were about to post it as a final in terms of teams making it before the Leaves lucked their way into a s***** win and you were forced to include them as a possibility.

I hate the Leafs, but I'm still surprised that they didn't even make the playoffs this year. What a bunch of losers.

Honestly I’m shocked the Leaves forced 5. I had Columbus in 3 but it also took a terrible game 2 and a historic collapse to get them this far. Just wasn’t a good matchup for them but Matthews is unreal and almost took over and did it himself. Special player. Have to question why the coach would break up that super line to start the third after they created so many chances all game. They only needed 1 at that point. I understand trying to get Nylander going but you just can’t break up that line. Best line on the ice tonight by far. They were terrors.

So the leafs have 4.5M in cap space for next year with Mikheyev, Dermott, Gauthier, and Malgin needing RFA contracts. Going to be very hard to upgrade the team.

Seems like Marner is getting traded for a D.
