Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 So we're both equally f***ed then. Except your way, will collect you an ulcer or two.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 Except your way, will collect you an ulcer or two. Not at all. I used to be the 'everything will work out' man and the 'this year is the year' guy...man, did I make myself sick and miserable in the playoffs. Now I call out s*** when it doesn't smell right. It's a lot easier to shrug off failure when you notice the warning signs early.
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 The NHLs playoff format is a crime against sports humanity. Almost as bad as NFL overtime rules

And any team can win in the playoffs, regardless of sport.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2019 Posted April 1, 2019 Looks like there's a small chance the Leaves could miss the playoffs. You know, those same playoffs that literally half the league qualifies for. Lol go leaves go

Going out in 3 against Boston is possible though.

Boston in 5 regardless.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2019 Posted April 2, 2019 Nah. Literally incorrect. There IS a demonstrable small chance.

onwego Verified Member Posted April 2, 2019 Posted April 2, 2019 Leafs have been coasting for a long time now, eased into opening the playoffs at Boston.

Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2019 Posted April 2, 2019 The NHLs playoff format is a crime against sports humanity. Almost as bad as NFL overtime rules I'm not sure what brought this comment on specifically this year. The seeds are pretty much in order give or take a point and no 6th place team would be sniffing the playoffs in another division. Boston and Toronto is a far better rivalry than, say, Boston and Pittsburgh. It's a reasonably effective format. MLB is the one that is completely tardf***ed, where the Twins and the Rays basically have the same chance to make the playoffs purely because of the massive difference in strength of schedule. NFL too but that is a symptom of only playing 16 games.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2019 Posted April 2, 2019 A Leafs and Jackets W tonight, would please me greatly.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Playoffs are clinched. Next. Wooooooooooo confirmed, slightly better than half the league! Championship, here we come!

Horses Fart Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 I know the Canes have had a phenomenal season but s*** I didn’t realize they have only 4 points less then us. Oh. Sparx sux.

The parity is certainly something to behold. The only saving grace is that, barring injury, that was the last time you'll see Sparks this season.....and possibly ever in a Leafs uniform.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 Alright boys, just laid down a cool $25 at +130 for the Leafs to beat the Bruins in the series. Anyone who is not doing this is literally just throwing money away. Also laid down some money on the Jets as a Canadian team fan boy (the payoff on Calgary is s***) and considering the Canes and Sharks.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 Jake Muzzin, one of two #Leafs that have won a Stanley Cup before, on Toronto heading into the playoffs: "These guys are hungry, man. They want to prove themselves, they want to win and so do I. Let’s go."

My first Bruins/Leafs playoff memory was it being like 10-0 for Boston and Quinn hurt Bobby Orr and in the ensuing riot Forbes Kennedy fought the whole B's bench and slugged the linesman (getting a life suspension) It has been just as painful the other times we've faced the B's to varying degrees. Not a penny on the Leafs.
