Boston is arguably the best team in the Atlantic...

 

I don't think any of the Atlantic teams are particularly good. All 4 have strengths and weaknesses and on any given day can beat each other (except for the Leafs beating the Habs...that losing streak is gross).

Bettman's not going anywhere. He's been the Commish for over 25 years, has had 3 work stoppages if I'm remembering correctly...one of which cancelled an entire season. He's expanded and watered down the league...he has franchises that are hemorrhaging money...and yet he's still here and keeps getting extended.

So who to cheer for tomorrow? Boston or Tampa?

 

If the Leafs win and Tampa loses in regulation, they clinch a playoff spot. But if Boston loses that increases the chance of the Leafs getting the #2 seed.

 

I'll be cheering for no overtime in that game :D

Hilarious that the Leaves sneak into the playoffs like this and get rewarded by possibly facing the worst team in the playoffs in Ottawa. It's as if the 6th and 7th seeds in the old system met in the first round, or something like that.

Well, that's interesting.... but I expect the NHL would pursue an injunction and the IOC would comply

I don't think the NHL would really want to do that. If the owner of the team he is under contract to allows him to go ( and that owner has said in the past he will not stand in the way if Ovechkin wants to go), then what recourse does the NHL really have?

 

The players are under contract to the team, not the league.

There is a legal agreement between the owners and NHL. In any event, this is all just posturing. They will be at the Olympics

Boston won and just leap-frogged the Sens and Leafs

 

With the Leafs down 3-0 to the Caps and Sens leading the Wings 2-0, they'll leap-frog both the Leafs and Bruins.
