Pens suck. Rangers are the best team in the NHL by a pretty significant margin. They are the heavy favorites. Pens were lucky they played Buffalo in the last game or they would have missed the playoffs.

Incorrect on basically all fronts.

Running numbers or is there a little personal bias here?

Anaheim is a slight favourite in reality. +EV on the Jets though in public markets.

Bruins fire Chiarelli.

Guy builds a solid 5 year contender that wins a cup and then makes another finals.

One garbage trade and just missing the playoffs once and poof, done.

Hockey is cruel.

Leafs might have interest?

I'm probably going to get s*** for this, but I think Chiarelli has been pretty average aside from one good year, and that year was 2006 (2006 draft, signing Chara and Savard). His draft since 2006 consists of Seguin (idiot proof), Hamilton, and possibly Pastrnak, with some maybes in Colborne, Caron and Griffith. As for trades, his record is mixed:

Good:

Kessel trade

Rask trade

Boychuk for Hendricks

Horton trade

Bad:

Seguin trade

Boychuk trade

Versteeg trade

Kaberle trade (Leafs acted like idiots with their picks)

Sobotka trade

All that's left is his free agents, where I don't know his history as well beyond Chara and Savard. Overall, he seems like an okay GM who got really lucky with inheriting Bergeron and Thomas.

Generally he's been really good at filling out a complete roster though, with sneaky good guys like Krug, Peverley, Soderberg, etc. I think...

The Soderberg trade was good, and Krug was a good pick-up. They got Peverley by trading Blake Wheeler, which is pretty much a wash (edge to Wheeler).

Damn, forgot that they gave up Wheeler for Peverley. I guess Peverley helped them win a cup so it was worth it in the end.
