Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Iginla 3 years, 5.3M per to Colorado.
Slot Machine Verified Member Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Leafs sign Komarov Maybe if we signed Grabo too we'd actually get somewhere I'd love that as well but I'm sure he wants nothing to do with the Leafs at this point.
Slot Machine Verified Member Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Also. LOL at Greg Millen being an advanced stats guy, would never have expected that.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Lol @ the stralman deal Kormarov 4 years almost 3per?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2014 Author Posted July 1, 2014 4/12 for Komarov? Seems a bit expensive for someone not even at a full seasons' worth of games but hey, he did play well.
Slot Machine Verified Member Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Wasn't JFAS always raving about Stralman?
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 On this day the Leafs have committed $6 million per year to Komarov and Robidas for the next three years. This pleases me immensely.
Slot Machine Verified Member Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Not that I understand it all that well but I found this pretty funny. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-IDUx8E7IZXo/U68s0dfCwKI/AAAAAAAACw0/OwRb-5vJbGI/s1600/BrPXWhNCYAEjyOz.png-large.png

BTS Community Moderator Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Komarov is good at hockey so I don't know why lol Because they're a bad team, and have just spent almost 10% of next year's cap on a 37-year old bottom-4 D and a bottom-6 pest. It's more wheel-spinning. If they had nabbed Vanek, or Moulson, or Stastny and actually improved the team I'd be unhappy, but they haven't actually improved at all.

Komarov is a solid third line winger with pretty solid poss. numbers who's young and in relativity to some of the s*** that happened today, wasn't signed for too high an AAV. Robidas was dumn though. But, maybe it'll lead to some of the d-men getting cleared out for forwards.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2014 Author Posted July 1, 2014 Just seems like chair-shuffling. Is Komarov better than Kulemin? Their most recent years compared, Komarov > Kulie, but Kulie's got a longer track record (more predictave value) and he's been pretty solid in some of those years. Honestly, I'd say they're about even, but I think Kulie's gonna get more money (or would have taken more to retain for the Leafs specifically). So I'd say our outlook is better with Leo than it would have been with Kulie.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Just seems like chair-shuffling. Is Komarov better than Kulemin? It is chair shuffling. I don't get this franchise at all.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2014 Author Posted July 1, 2014 Legwand and Vrbata are intriguing options for the Leafs. This is what we've come to. Wow.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Spezza gone! So you're telling me that the Save Spezza rally didn't help??? http://i.cbc.ca/1.2646791.1400427304!/httpImage/image.jpg_gen/derivatives/16x9_620/image.jpg
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2014 Author Posted July 2, 2014 Leafs were gonna do Franson/Gorges if he had waived his NTC LOL
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Leafs were gonna do Franson/Gorges if he had waived his NTC LOL Thank goodness Gorges didn't want to come here. It's literally amazing how Nonis and Carlyle are still employed by this organization. What a gong show.
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 So Marcel Goc is a significantly better player than David Bolland at the same position. Goc gets a year year $1.2 million contract and Bolland gets 5/27.5. The NHL is pathetic and run bu idiots.
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 BTS, you look great in that. I can't believe you've done this.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Its a shame the Senators are being run into the ground by one of sports truly awful owners in Melnyk. That organization actually has so much potential with guys like Karlsson, Turris, Mcarthur, Ryan and Lehner. Even with such a limited budget they could have done way better than Michalek for 3 year/12 million who has concrete knees. I mean Hemsky got that same contract and is head and shoulders the better player. Side Note: the Dallas Stars are going to be a fun team to watch next season. Top 6 F might have the most skill of any in the NHL.
labadee Verified Member Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Legwand and Vrbata are intriguing options for the Leafs. this reminds me of the leafs when they got jason allison and co.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 The Leafs are not built as a team that could play a full 82 game season, let alone the playoffs.
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Well, it happened. Dave Bolland got more term and AAV than Grabovski.
Nox Verified Member Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Well, it happened. Dave Bolland got more term and AAV than Grabovski. While the Bolland signing is obviously egregious, I'm surprised someone actually valued Grabo close to what he's worth. The NHL being retarded and all.
GoldBull Verified Member Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 As a Leafs fan, it's so frustrating to see this start to the off-season. They've literally done nothing to add to a 84 point team and barring Gardiner and Reilly making huge leaps next year (and other things needing to go right), it's shaping up to be another disappointing season... Good thing we brought Shanahan in

Good thing we brought Shanahan in Leafs are a bit handcuffed. We have Kadri, Gardiner, and Bernier on their final years, all of whom will be RFA next year looking for pay raises. The only salary coming off the books is Colton Orr at 1 million. Spending to the cap would be detrimental to the future of the team. I suspect the leafs will be looking to dump salary some point this season.
