burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 The quality of hockey isn't bad enough. We need another 90 plugs being rostered. The product wouldn't suffer with 2 teams added IMO but if you add 4 it wouldn't be pretty. Especially in 15 years as less and less kids are playing hockey these days.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 It's not like there will be two battles of Ontario for the Sens. They already took a back seat to the storied rivalry between the Leafs and Habs. Now instead of being the bastard step-child, they might be the bastard step-child's imaginary friend. It's also another battle for sponsorship money. If the Sens are playing well, it probably won't matter but in lean times there are now 4 other teams (don't think Quebec doesn't effect them too) for sponsors to jump to. As for Vegas, this whole concept of gambling being an issue...gambling is no longer tied to Vegas. It can be done world-wide. I'm pretty sure there are more degenerates in New York than in Vegas. If promoted correctly...anything in Vegas can work (at least short-term)> The rivalry with the Leafs has been stale for a while now. The games against the Leafs and Habs will still be premium games because there are a lot of Leafs and Habs fans in the Ottawa area. I think if the NBA puts a team in Vegas it will kill the NHL team as Vegas is a huge basketball city and I can't see many people going to both.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Source? http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2013/08/02/messier-concerned-over-drop-in-canadian-kids-playing-hockey/ Now this is Canada but I don't think the US will be much different considering the costs and parents being weary of concussions. I think there are plenty of Euros still playing hockey but Canada makes up over half of NHL players.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Yea you don't even need stats to realize that more Canadian kids or being put in soccer and basketball, especially in the larger cities with the living cost so high. You occasionally see soccer kids on the ttc with their parents, you'll never find a hockey kid
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 This part is admittedly bleak, but I still watched when neutral zone trap was popular so it's tough to be too upset. We'll all watch. Doesn't mean we can't complain though.

You occasionally see soccer kids on the ttc with their parents, you'll never find a hockey kid 100%. Basketball is getting really big and soccer is probably about to explode.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Anyone getting NHL 15? Not for PS4, they don't even have half the features from the Last Gen version.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Boston Bruins forward David Krejčí has agreed to a six-year contract extension worth $43.5 million. lol

Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 wow there are a lot of angry people that went to fan fest yesterday. I thought the event was free! lol
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 So many neanderthals walking around downtown Toronto today with their Leaf jerseys on. Thankfully FanFest is only a one time thing.

Nox Verified Member Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 DionPhaneuf.lol Only $49 M left on his contract. That's ok though right?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2014 Author Posted September 11, 2014 Only $49 M left on his contract. That's ok though right? Yeah, because there's no salary cap in the NHL. Right?
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Only $49 M left on his contract. That's ok though right? He only has to be worth like 6 WAR to make that contract worth while, so its really not tha... wait... I'm in the HOCKEY thread?? Oh my...
GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2014 Author Posted September 11, 2014 Isn't one win worth like $2.5M? Which would be... lmao

eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 But yeah Thank you danglefactory.com for ensuring me about how terrible the Leafs are. 7 of the bottom 13 in the Corsi projections are either current or were very recently Leafs. Well done Burkie.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2014 Author Posted September 12, 2014 Was it Frag who said JV is second to JVR? Yeah gonna disagree lol. Good thing Dubas is a thing now.

Well done Burkie. To be fair to the players, any projection system that outputs G/A/P/traditional metric X is going to have a healthy amount of Randy's terrible system baked in.
