Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 As an asset, Salazar is greater than Price. Carlos Rodon alike but..................Both must be established in the majors and pitch to his capacity.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 I'm very curious to see the final draft order, we can use it to see how things stand in DDL. I could see Salazar going as early as the 3rd.
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Salazar will likely provide more surplus value to his team over his remaining years of a control, but Price is the better asset because he can return more projected surplus value via trade than Salazar can provide. Definitely
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 A nice piece on Grantland about how all these signing the Yanks have made this offseason will not guarantee success versus teams like the Rays, Red Sox, Jays and Orioles: http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/10150907/the-new-normal-new-york-yankees Of course, it won't mean anything to us unless AA does something to upgrade our pitching!
OtisNixonFan Verified Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Jason Knapp attempting a comeback. Only 23. I remember him being a name in the original Halladay trade talks. He was an A-Ball flame thrower then, did he ever get any farther? He has a live arm and is still young. Definitely worth an invite IMO.

Was striking out like 12+/9 guys with a BB/9 of ~4. At only 23, we should definitely give him a shot.

Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Forget Tampa, you should see what Silvio is asking for him. Haha that's why I ended up taking my business elsewhere.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 I'm just stopping in to brag about getting Salazar in the 5th round of the DDL prospect draft. Damn. In the 5th round, I grabbed a guy named Oscar Mercado. I literally knew nothing about him. I just saw the name "Oscar", and that he was drafted by St. Louis. So yeah, I basically got Oscar Taveras in the 5th round.

Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Mariners to resign Guti.. does that mean no Choo or Cruz? They still haven't found protection for Cano
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Mariners to resign Guti.. does that mean no Choo or Cruz? They still haven't found protection for Cano I doubt it. I don't see how they could possibly rely on him for anything close to full time health. I could see it as a precursor to trading Ackley or Saunders though.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Doesnt seem like a very M's move to sign an outfielder who can actually you know, play the outfield. I disapprove.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 The Mariners need to start making some trades.. or they will have the best bench in 2014 Ackley, Franklin, Smoak/Montero are the odd men out. What are the odds Tanaka signs with the Mariners? They should be in the running..
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Jason Knapp attempting a comeback. Only 23. Sell this guy on the weighted ball program. Perfect for a comeback player
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Saunders+ Ackley/Franklin + Montero for Santos + Happ + Loup + Rogers
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Saunders+ Ackley/Franklin + Montero for Santos + Happ + Loup + Rogers Sorry Ang, Jack Z is dumb but I doubt he's that dumb.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Sorry Ang, Jack Z is dumb but I doubt he's that dumb. Montero and Saunders buy low candidates; Ackley/Franklin is the real asset here. Mariners will get SAVEZZ (Santos), LOOGY (Loup) and 2 Back/end-rotation starters. Forget the names. The mariners could get pieces that they need for redundant pieces (Jack Z protocol)

I guess if you're dumb enough to overbid by 70 million for Cano you just might overpay for saves. Creates a logjam in the OF, but 2015 looks bleak anyhow. PLUS HE'S CANADIAN! MARKETABILITY!
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Franklin Gutierrez and #Mariners agree 1 year, $1 million contract. Time to get Saunders+ Ackley/Franklin + Montero for Santos + Happ + Loup + Rogers

NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Ya, I'm curious who will go 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 and so on lol since Trout will be #1. I bet McCutchen goes #2. He seems to have passed Harper and Stanton in keeper value. I'm very curious to see the final draft order, we can use it to see how things stand in DDL. I could see Salazar going as early as the 3rd. I don't really see that for Salazar (unless JFaS goes nuts). In DDL we had established aces and young #2 starters going in the third -- Moore, Gonzalez, Darvish, Lee, Sale, Weaver. I don't think Salazar is close to that class yet. I see him more as a sixth round type of asset. It will certainly be fun to evaluate our DDL teams based off of their draft. I'm excited to see what goes down in the BBDL.

The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/yanks-hit-with-28m-luxury-tax-l-a-to-pay-11m/ Yankees hit with 28M luxury tax bill. Dodgers pay 11.4M. The only two teams that had to pay. And it's looking like the Yankees are gonna be over the limit again this year. Right now they are at $177.7 million for 15 players. Add in 12 million for player benefits. That brings them just over the 189 Million mark already. There's a good chance they'll be over the limit even if A-Rod is suspended for the year.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Stanton and Harper should be taken over McCutchen in any keeper fantasy league. Pretty easily too. I could agree with Harper. But not Stanton. They're only seperated by 3 years of age. McCutchen plays CF while Stanton is only OF. I'd probably rank them Trout>>Harper>McCutchen>Stanton. And you can never forget about Miguel Cabrera, I bet he goes somewhere in there.
