Jays Verified Member Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 The Cubs broadcasters including wrc+ in their stats. Why can't we have this?
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 The Cubs broadcasters including wrc+ in their stats. Why can't we have this? Doesn't really matter. Any fan that understands the advanced stats probably looks them up fairly regularly anyhow.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 dat effort dat recovery dat arm http://wapc.mlb.com/play/?content_id=29409919&topic_id=11493214 handsome jake. Too bad Gose, who can hit better, field better, throw better, and run better is still in AAA.
Jays Verified Member Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Exposing casual fans to new and better stats wouldn't hurt. They even explained the stat during the broadcast. I bet a lot of fans haven't even heard of some of the advanced stats.
8D Verified Member Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 I bet you the Jays have so many new fans they don't really know what stats to look for except for home runs. Thinking about it, wouldn't be the worst idea to introduce them to some advanced stats. They won't know the diff anyways. Just tell them this year's baseline/average and show the players' numbers. They'll get comfortable with it if they stick around long enough.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Our old friend Danny Farquhar notched his first career save yesterday and looks like the closer job is his for a bit. He has a 1.99 FIP, 2.13 xFIP, and 0.8 WAR in 34.1 innings. Could be, hard to say. He entered in the 8th, then Seattle scored a few more runs to extend it to a 4 run lead. Dunno if they had people warming up or not for the 9th since I didn't watch it live.

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 I just went off what Yahoo said but he's having a great season (non ERA wise) and he credits his recent success to Machete. Speaking of Blanco, he just went deep. Perhaps we'll find out who the closer is after all.
digiblader Verified Member Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 And the D-Backs are getting closer to handing the NL West to the LA Dodgers(who are beating the Cubs right now BTW)
digiblader Verified Member Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Pennant Race updates: Red Sox beating D-Backs 4-0 in the 7th--Doubront is dominating this lifeless D-Backs lineup. As a result, expect the Dodgers Rays currently lead 4-3 in the 7th, Moscoso was lousy as expected--no wonder the Jays didn't keep him. Orioles are losing to Seattle 3-2 in the 9th. Royals lead 6-2 to the Mets. Indians will stay in the lead in 2nd wild card after beating Miami 2-0. Now they need Detroit to lose(tied 2-2 in extras) to gain in the AL Central.

Arkadium Verified Member Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Almost feel bad for the White Sox - 10 in a row. They are not much better off than the Astros... and yet they have a couple good starters going to waste in Santiago and Sale. Maybe they should of sold high on Sale too?

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 The ol' Jeter special. Jeter wouldn't have even gotten to that ball, but great play.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 A-Rod back in the lineup tonight lol. Watch him hit a HR in his first AB of the season.
theblujay Verified Member Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Now that the Jays are unwatchable I figured I'd use mlb.tv to watch other games. I find myself looking for the Miami game first everyday...its so sad.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Looks like the Sox may have lost Lackey.

theblujay Verified Member Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Royals up big against Minnesota. I hope the Royals and Pirates make the playoffs so we'll be alone at the top of the list.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Nothing better than watching Chris Perez s*** the bed.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Looks like Iglesias might be hurt.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Kendrick carried off the field with a knee injury.
digiblader Verified Member Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Difficult to call on this one.. This optioning shows that the Mariners are a worse organization than the Jays.. there wasn't anything wrong with Wilhelmsen, it's just that Eric Wedge won't use him because of what happened in that Boston game on Aug. 1. This is also the same org. that wouldn't trade the veterans(Ibanez, Morales, Morse, Joe Saunders) for prospects the team needs, especially with the pitching staff--they need to build around Felix Hernandez.
digiblader Verified Member Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 With Texas losing Cruz, Yankees being still awful and Cleveland still unable to beat Detroit, you may get your wish! Royals are only 4 back now.
Save Dtieb Verified Member Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 If the Pirates and Royals make the playoffs, Jays would have the longest post-season drought by 8 years.
digiblader Verified Member Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 http://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/current_attendance.shtml Baseball has a serious attendance problem that needs to be fixed--nearly 2/3rds of the league are facing declines in attendance, including big market teams like the Yankees and Red Sox. Even the Rangers are down sharply(mostly because of the sting from last season and having no superstars in that lineup) Notes to Cleveland, Tampa and Kansas City--get your butts to the games! Your teams are in the playoff mix. Seeing attendance drop about 2.5% this year has to be concerning for Bud Selig.
