Tino Martinez resigned because three specific Marlin players were being douchebags and wouldn't bother to pick up balls during BP.

And while Martinez is right, the guy sure does swear a lot and seems confrontational. What a shame.

lol I don't understand this. The Marlins players sure seem lazy and douchy, especially for a last place deal. A rookie, a AAA player who somehow found himself on the MLB and a AAAA waiver player. At the same time, he seems so pissed, swearing and grabbing players by the jersey. As much as I like coaches being tough on players when they're slacking, but come on. This thing happened on 3 separate occasions, it's not like it's a typical thing either

Should this have been an infield fly rule? Or does the ball have to go a certain height into the air?

Isn't it an infield fly?? It clearly was in the infield and it was a popup, not one of those soft balls that have little air time before it drops. It was popped up

Weird, Gardenhier didn't even argue

No rispeck. No rispeck at all. These young generations or just the Marlins. King, you better tell out hitting prospects on twitter to pick up the balls after battling practice.

It's a rule established by major league veteran players.

Not only that, but calling out Kotchman on his supposed injury, berating Matt Downs on working with another coach - that's 5 incidents in one year for a first time coach.

I can understanding getting on the three players for the BP fiasco, but the way he handled it was just so aggressive and over the top. And then these two other incidents lead me to believe that he's just not fit for coaching.

Hard to say what the root of the problem of is. It may be that these players just weren't coached properly in the minors to prepare them for the big leagues, or maybe they're just *******s. But I think it's mostly that Martinez just doesn't yet have what it takes to be a major league coach. It's a tough job, dealing with douchey young players and trying to get them to respect you, but it doesn't sound he like he has the patience for it, and needs more experience as a coach.

Yunel's really starting to fit into what Tampa's doing. He's been really good since his terrible April. If only we had him at SS and Reyes at 2B.

Quiet! You'll only encourage fatcow.

They should put them into the Navy Seals training the Pirates have.

A real shame.

Nope. The Blue Jays sent him outright to Buffalo and he declined the assignment for some reason. Nobody has even taken a flyer on him.

I wonder why he did that. At least then the Blue Jays would pay for his medical care.

Hilarious. Can't get much more embarrassing than that.

Brett Obelholtzer shuts out the O's! Indians could lead the 2nd wild card if they beat the White Sox tonight. (and we're still a long way from contention at 8.5 back)

Cleveland now leads the 2nd wild card--Carlos Santana hit a walk-off HR vs. Dylan Axelrod.

Wow. I remember when Cleveland and the Blue Jays were tied in the WC standings, and we'rent we even ahead of TB at one point?

Jonny Gomes with a nice little play of his own to keep it tied. you don't see a lot of 7U DP

"I hope he does it,'' former Commissioner Fay Vincent told USA TODAY Sports. "It's right for baseball. The harder he comes down, the better it is for baseball.''

I chuckled when I read this... I had an image of Arod in the guillotine in the middle of Yankee stadium.... Selig pulling the lever.... "Are you happy now".... "Are you happy!!!"
