Rios' was at fenway 20ft from the wall down by peskys pole. A really bad play would have been to let it bounce over the wall for a double, but instead if managed to knock the ball 20ft up into the stands. not even close, Thames went up and made a legit attempt and bobbled it over the wall.

Imagine if Smoak, Ackley and Montero had worked out. The Mariners would be the envy of the AL.

Miggy with another Jack tonight.. is he approaching Bonds' prime-era scariness?

Relative to his peers, almost.

His wRC+ is at 211 right now.

Bonds broke the 200 mark 4 times during his peak. 212, 233, 234, and 244.

Now, obviously, Bonds did those over 4 full seasons and Miggy's # is only after ~45 games or so.

I don't think anyone will ever come close to Bonds' prime scariness. We're talking wOBAs of .540. His OBP actually topped .600 in 2004.

That being said, Miggy is doing this in the post-steroid era. He has been remarkably consistent and should have some great years left ahead.

It just goes to show you how unpredictable prospects can be. All these guys were top 15 prospects at some point.

Man, it would suck if Cabrera ended up testing positive for something... I so hope he's doing this clean.

Terry Francona is giving the Sox nightmares--and Middlebrooks hurt his back. 6-3 Cleveland. And Detroit is losing to Minny 5-2 due to Porcello's poor pitching offsetting Cabrera's HR.

The way Cabrera's hitting, 90-100 RBIs is a possibilty by the All-Star break.(record is 103, BTW by another Tiger, Hank Greenberg. Juan Gonzalez(101) and Carlos Delgado (97) are next closest.)

Yes I mean relative to the rest of the league. Bonds' numbers were insane and not likely to be matched. But right now I think Cabrera is the scariest batter to face in the past few years.

Now it's 12-3. Boy, does Boston wish they had a long-man right now.. with 3 more games against the Indians this weekend, they're going to need deep outings from Lackey, Lester and Doubront this weekend.. and the sked for Boston gets difficult, with the Phillies and the YANKEES next.

Did anyone see that absolute blast by Mike Trout in the Royals game? It said 430 feet.. but it almost hit the scoreboard!

That was seriously crushed. It's hard to judge the distance between the wall (410ft) and the base of the scoreboard, but that looked closer to 440-450ft to me.

Being a Trout owner in a dynasty league.. I can fap to this.

Cabrera: 387/459/685 (think this didnt update for tonight so May 22)

Bautista: 353/500/816 (May 22, 2011)

Don't remember Jose getting near the amount of headlines.

I honestly don't remember Bautista having a BA that high ever... But, frankly, doesn't shock me that he'd have been overlooked in that sort of head-to-head comparison regardless...
