GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2013 Author Posted May 26, 2013 I'm definitely taking the Stanton side of that. Without blinking. True talent .400 wOBA (according to ZIPs) 24 year olds who also happen to be plus defenders are things that I would have a very hard time trading. It's amazing a 6'5/245 player could be such a good defender. But there's the chance that Buxton is a rare great-fielding, very good hitting CF, and Sano's bat is just insane.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2013 Author Posted May 26, 2013 He was the D-TRAIN, everyone loved Dontrelle Willis. Major League ERA in 2007 was 4.47, and Willis had a 4.62 xFIP in 2007. There was reason to believe he'd be a mid-rotation guy going forward. People just ignored the ERA?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2013 Author Posted May 26, 2013 Buxton is the true five-tool prospect. 80 run, plus raw power, plus arm, plus glove, could be a plus hitter. Seems like McCutchen with more speed. But yeah I'd do it too. It's silly how much power Stanton has and his approach should keep improving. I think that could be a fairly even trade, really, with Stanton's side probably coming out a bit on top.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2013 Author Posted May 26, 2013 No, Willis was a definite disappointment in '07 but there were signs he was unlucky. 1.27 HR/9 after never going above 0.91, strand-rate above 5 points below his career rate at the time. He was still the D-Train. Not that much more BABIP luck and K's were never really there. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=1703&position=P#platediscipline His plate discipline just f***ing blew up everywhere.

Not much excess weight holding him back. Sano and Buxton are definitely legit prospects. Buxton especially.

Nox Verified Member Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 Did you see Buxton's walk off grand slam? I did not.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2013 Author Posted May 26, 2013 I did not. Ignore the ragingly flamboyant stadium music. how the f*** do I embed?
Nox Verified Member Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 Ignore the ragingly flamboyant stadium music. how the f*** do I embed? Stud. And I have no idea how to embed a video. I tried earlier and failed too.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2013 Author Posted May 26, 2013 Stud. And I have no idea how to embed a video. I tried earlier and failed too. It was a beautiful swing. He hit that ball a mile. Looked like it went over a wire up above the stadium or something.
kcjaysfan Verified Member Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 (edited) We should be able to embed videos according to this. I just get a link to the video when I do what it says on that page. *Edit: I see now that the [VIDEO] code is turned off, so that's why we can't embed videos, and it just posts the link. Buxton + Sano side without thinking a lot. The Twins stink with or without Stanton. I prefer to develop Sano + Buxton and to have 2 future stud playing practically for free, and invest Stanton's money in decent players.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 Just watched the highlights of the giants game. Walk off inside the park home run? and lol at the two blown calls... umps are pathetic this year
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 That call on Scutaro was brutal. The call at home plate may have been tough at full speed but the scutaro one was not even close.. you can tell the ump knew right away because he took forever to throw the giants coach out.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 Cardinals likely to call up Michael Wacha Cardinals Miller, Wacha, Martinez, Rosenthal, Kelly, Gast Vs Blue Jays Nolin, Jenkins, Ortiz, Laffey, Gonzalez
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2013 Author Posted May 26, 2013 Apparently the Giants have SEVEN walk-off home runs this year... that's crazy! I don't think we have seven walk-off homers in the past five years. A.) Nice avatar B.) Didn't we have like 5 walkoff dingers in 2011?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2013 Author Posted May 26, 2013 http://jaysjournal.com/2012/01/03/which-blue-jays-walk-off-win-was-the-best-of-2011/ We had 6 walk off homers that year. They have 7 in two months. Wow lol.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 Alex Cobb is a machine. 1-hitting the Yankees through 6 with no walks, 5 Ks, and 9 GO. ERA down to 2.48, xFIP to 2.95. Rays are so good
digiblader Verified Member Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 That Cardinals depth is equal to or better than the Rays--and light years ahead of us, the Yankees and Red Sox. Now they just need to stop losing arms to injury..remember, like most young arms, much of their stuff may not be fully developed yet. Another thing..many of those Cardinals arms are working out of the bullpen with mixed results. And you left out Tyler Lyons. And another thing--Jenkins has actually pitched reasonably well. Don't forget, we have Drabek and Hutchison returning in the 2nd half as well. And what about Marcus Stroaman?
digiblader Verified Member Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 Talk about adding insult to injury for the Indians. Cleveland loses 3 of 4, 5 of their last 6, Pestano may be hurt due to reduced velocity in his last outing, and now Chris Perez is injured..looks like their strong start was a mirage(again).. looks like Detroit better enjoy the penthouse for a while. And Boston is now in first place---imagine how angry both the Yanks and Red Sox are going to be against each other next weekend when they play each other.
digiblader Verified Member Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 Not for long. Oakland's closing in, as is Baltimore and Tampa Bay. And Cleveland's rotation is Masterson, McAllister, and a lot of questionable arms. Losing Perez and an effective Pestano could be devastating for the Indians, especially with tough games coming up with the first-place Reds, Rays, Yankees and Tigers, Rangers and Nationals.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 From Rotoinfo (I think): "Updated: Wilken Ramirez was not happy about being placed on the 7-day disabled list. Said he was asked to recite months backward but said he doesn't know them." Maybe this is a case where the concussion can't do any damage? (Yeah, I'm sure there's more to this, just found it funny)
Candy Maldonado Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 Angels are going to win 8 in a row. Jealous.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2013 Author Posted May 26, 2013 Seriously, STOP f***ING TOUCHING ADRIAN BELTRE ON THE HEAD! http://d3fsqtc6sy2z27.cloudfront.net/uploads/1cf8e39dd5e6e61948387a8b8c76c342_large
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2013 Author Posted May 26, 2013 Not well played at all, Mauer. Jesus.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Looks like the Mariners finally called up Nick Franklin. Was wondering how long they could let the Ackley/Ryan combo stink it up offensively (although Ryan is finally in a little hot streak).
kgm1 Verified Member Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Wonder if Ackley is headed to AAA . probably . If Franklin and Truinfel work out Ackley could be a buy low candidate??
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 I don't really know what to make of Ackley. By the time we get closer to the trade deadline, hopefully we have a better idea in what we have with Boni. His defense seems to be improving, as well as the bat. There could be other names that pop up between now and then as well.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Garza on Cueto Hopefully he learns to grow the hell up. Cueto should learn you don’t go after guys’ heads. Don’t wake a sleeping dog and I think that’s kind of immature on his part and totally uncalled for. He’s lucky that retaliation isn’t in our vocabulary here. That’s kind of BS on his part. Just totally immature. If he has something to say about it, he knows where to find my locker and definitely I’ll find his. I took total disrespect out of that one. Zeus has never done anything wrong. He just plays the game the right way. So if Cueto has any problem, he can throw at me and I’ll definitely return the favor. I didn’t like that one bit.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Dusty Baker You got something to say, you go over there and tell him. Johnny ain’t running. Know what I mean? A guy can say what he wants to say, but it’s better if you go over and say it to his face. I just wish, just put them in a room, let them box and let it be over with, know what I mean? I always said this. Let it be like hockey. Let them fight, somebody hits the ground and then it’ll be over with. I’m serious about that. I come from a different school. Guys didn’t talk as much. You just did it.
