  1. You give Vlady's brain too much credit.
  2. I am not disputing he was unlucky against SD. I am not focusing on the results really, just the quality of his pitches and command. I would not put a higher grade than 40 on any of his pitches or his command.
  3. People should stop saying he looked good against Detroit. Result was good. His pitches looked the same to me for the most part.
  4. He was not good against Detroit. Got lucky. His pitches were still mostly junk.
  5. Teach me how to see games on the radio please.
  6. It is better in terms of speed and raw talent, not decision making.
  7. I have been saying this since ST. This team is so f***ing stupid at baserunning. The worst I have seen in terms of decision making. We probably give the opposing pitchers an average of 2 to 3 free outs per game.
  8. Is there any batting metric that takes opposing pitcher quality into account?
  9. Routine plays (near 100% outs made) will result in 1 OAA loss when not made.
  10. The amount of plus/minus depends on difficulty.
  11. Vlad seems to think he is the main character.
  12. Merrifield taking "represent the Blue Jays" too literally by making an out on the bases.
  13. Vlad just does not look like he belongs.
  14. OAA accounts for player positioning for plays made. It uses play difficulty calculated by statcast which combines the batted ball data and the ground the player needed to cover in time.
  15. The adjustment rewards players who play difficult positions. An average CF is much more valuable defensively than an average 1B.
  16. Dude.. Kirk's positional adjustment would get nullified and then he would get deep into negative defensive value as he misses all balls hit in his direction in CF. Same for Vlad. Getting positive defensive value in CF is actually hard. Not many players can do it.
  17. So much dumn here. The whole point of WAR is to compare players value across different positions. Players with more WAR are more valuable. Is WAR perfect? Not really. But it is still very good. Vlad's WAR makes perfect sense given his mediocre offensive production for a 1B and limited range defensively.
  18. Alonso's pitcher is terrible.
  19. Does Vlad do any cardio?
  20. So Greg Maddux. Got it.
  21. Jansen up to 746 OPS on the season. Should be able to overtake Vladdy by end of July and then become the team leader in September. My only complaint is that I wish he was not so smug and didn't give his teammates a head start in the race early in the season.
  22. I would fire the coaching staff for how many outs they cause/enable on the bases. At this point, I have no doubt that they lack the intelligence to learn.
  23. Dumbest baserunning team. Vlady the MVP in that department.
