  1. What a play by Bo! A little concerned how hard manoah is getting hit.
  2. Vlad doesn’t really differentiate between pitches in the zone at all. If it’s in the zone, he’s swinging, doesn’t matter the count. It’s a bit of a leak.
  3. I don’t think we will trade for high leverage guys. If by high leverage, we mean swing and miss guys with some track record. We didn’t last year and we had a much bigger need. I don’t see us putting good prospects into it.
  4. They aren’t dumb as hell any more, they hired a guy from our front office.
  5. Modern LBs seem to look like safeties used to look. Long, lean (for football players) with long pass snagging limbs. Aaron judge looks like a tight end.
  6. DSL team won 8-7. One of those runs was earned lol. Those games must be absolute s*** shows.
  7. Dominican Summer League and Florida Complex League start today. Interesting players on both teams. Just saw that beltre homered in first game.
  8. Yea, I’ve heard hype now on Tiedemann (from basically everyone) and Zuelueta, Santos and Frasso from various places. It’s a pretty exciting time for blue jays pitching. I think there’s a small chance that Zueleta pulls a manoah and makes the majors before he gets a ton of hype. This will be the first deadline in a while where I’m going to be possibly pissed at us losing a pitcher at the lower levels.
  9. The more I think about it Jansen is such a natural fit for Houston. His approach would work so well in that park. They also dont get much production from catcher.
  10. Interesting article from McDaniel. Particularly so for the list at the bottom of up arrow guys. Guys who will be higher on the top 100, newly in the top 100 or in contention for it when they weren’t before. Two blue jays on that list: Tiedemann and Dahian Santos. I didn’t expect Santos. https://www.espn.com/mlb/insider/insider/story/_/id/34031585/who-best-prospect-not-mlb-right-now-here-8-top-candidates
  11. I can see good and bad. Second time through the level isn’t great. Power jump after the last prospect list I saw him on said he had 40 hit and 40 power. He’s doing better than that. Apparently he also has a plus plus arm so I’m guessing at the very least he can play third. Maybe he can cut down the k rate.
  12. Is Barger a guy? 22 year old lefty hitting short stop tearing it up in high A. Never mind. 30% k rate and 5% bb won’t play.
  13. Didn’t Miami deal a hyped young pitcher not that long ago. Gallen?
  14. How about we convince Colorado that they will be contenders next year and we give them Jansen and take Marquez off their hands? Maybe they could add something good on as he isn’t having a great year. They might be dumb enough to do that.
  15. That trade value site which I don’t know if anyone really trusts has baz as a fair trade for Moreno. That would be interesting. It has carbrera as a massive overpay. Miami would have to add a lot more.
  16. I didn’t mean I don’t know as in I wouldn’t trade for them. I just meant I don’t have a good feeling for their value. I don’t think seattle or the rays would do those deals and I don’t think the jays would do a deal with the rays period. The other ones are generally more viable. And yea, you could probably get something back on top.
  17. Kirby and Baz yes for sure. Assuming baz comes back ok. They both have ace potential. Gilbert as well probably. I don’t know about the rest. I just find it hard to believe that they would trade them. There isn’t anything as valuable in baseball as elite pitching for cheap.
  18. You would need to have a pretty strong read on how good Moreno (especially defensively) will be for sure. Maybe, you call Moreno up and see how he does for a month before the deadline. Of course, that could hurt his value if he struggles.
  19. I still think you trade Kirk or Moreno if you get absolutely blown away. You trade Jansen for good value. Even if this is a real breakout, then you still need to pay him in 2 years and some approximation of his value in arb right away. It’s way better for our long term window to have Kirk and Moreno on cheaper deals. Having guys performing for not much money is how you afford bo and vlad.
  20. Is there any way we could get the Rockies to sell low on Marquez?
  21. Not only is he a great hitter, he’s now shown that he can be an everyday ish catcher and a great framer. I can’t see us trading him for anything less than a massive return.
  22. To add something concrete to the trade discussions. These are the teams that probably consider themselves contenders and aren’t getting much from the catcher position. I eliminated teams in our division and San Diego/SF because they have top prospects they wouldn’t want to block. I added Colorado because they are delusional. Assuming Jansen would only be attractive to a contender as he only has 2 years of control after this one. This is the list: - Guardians - Mets - Marlins - White Sox - Astros - Rockies - Cardinals The Mets are borderline as they signed McCann to a pretty good deal and they don’t really need to get better. Anyway, those are the teams. Any other teams you think would be interested? What would be an acceptable return from those teams in season for Jansen? Kirks market would obviously be way bigger because he has 4 years of control but his price would also be pretty big. Moreno’s market would be non contenders obviously. I personally would only consider Moreno in an absolute blockbuster (Soto?).
  23. Twins are in first place, not last.
  24. It’s either trolling or 1985 baseball opinions.
