  1. Moreno 4/5 with two doubles tonight.
  2. If they are good, I’d expect they already have deals locked down somewhere.
  3. It’s part of a scout’s job to make comps based on the tools, strengths and weaknesses they see. However, this did seem to be kind of a throwaway line, to me.
  4. I saw in the latest Eric longenhagen chat that some scout texted him that Martinez reminded him of Maikel Franco. I think he has absolute bust potential (some guys never recognize breaking balls) but oh my god the ceiling is immense. He’s our best dice roll for a true star I think to complement this core.
  5. Robberse might surprise I think. IÂ’ve only seen cut ups of course but he looks like the kind of dude who gets a velo bump and is suddenly a real guy. Athletic dude, has a few pitches, pretty good command, but doesnÂ’t blow anyone away. Ceiling as a back end starter or 6th starter who suddenly becomes much more if he develops more velo. When the Cleveland guys came over, I thought our system would be full of this type because itÂ’s kind of the Cleveland prototype. We are more like Cleveland on the international side as we seem to be really into hit tool guys.
  6. Oh for sure, but the sheer number is encouraging.
  7. I haven’t been this excited about this amount of pitching prospects in system in forever.
  8. This bullpen isn’t good enough. I believe the offense will come around but I absolutely do not believe in this bullpen being any better than dead average at best. You can make the playoffs like that but it’s tough in this division.
  9. Do other teams not shift in that situation?
  10. What’s it about him? He has a weird delivery? Too much effort in his delivery? Only has two pitches or one and half pitches?
  11. HeÂ’s listed as being on a rehab assignment on milb.com but he has already had 3 outings at least which might be long for a rehab assignment? So, that might be wrong. It all depends on their viability as a starter. Guys who can viably start usually donÂ’t get pushed up into a major league pen until they have shown they wonÂ’t be a starter or they are close, bumping up against inning limits and will be useful for the stretch run. The only team that seems to start guys out in the pen alot (from what I heard, I only follow the jays closely) might be the dodgers? And thatÂ’s because they have way too much talent. Juenger might be the guy in terms of recently drafted guys who come up quickly into the pen. We could see Hernandez and Danner this year as well.
  12. Someone put the BA top ten up on Reddit: 1 Moreno 2 Martinez 3 Tiedemann 4 Groshans 5 Pearson 6 Lopez 7 Jiminez 8 Meza 9 Robberse 10 Juenger Meza stands out to me as does Juenger. I thought Juenger was a relief prospect albeit a good one.
  13. What’s the track record of guys who figure it out after a few years at triple A with very middling results before that? I think I’d give Warmoth a try but I’m not getting my hopes up. Unless something has changed with his scouting profile. A few of the recent additions to the 40man have been of the ‘disposable’ variety so maybe he would be called up in a similar way.
  14. Adrian Hernandez with yet another clean two strikeout inning in relief for buffalo.
  15. Maybe worth it if you are in a super deep dynasty league. I wonder how much eno sarris makes at the athletic because he is by far the most useful fantasy guy out there. He could make a ton on patreon if he went out on his own.
  16. 6 hits each but all of their’s line up for runs. That’s just baseball. People want to believe that there’s some special quality that’s different but it’s basically just luck. Sure, our hitting has to get better but also we could easily have won both of these games with a little different sequence luck.
  17. It’s been a tough schedule and honestly their sequence luck just on the eye test has been terrible. They need to play some non good teams. They haven’t really played a genuinely bad team since the As.
  18. Nowhere near enough at bats for Moreno after his injury at triple A to say anything about his power.
  19. The bullpen is fine as in dead average. I would say the importance of bullpens are generally overrated but in this division it could be a problem.
  20. Well, the one thing is I don’t think it’s as bad as last season. At times we had a genuinely bad bullpen last year and also a bullpen that always gave up just enough runs to lose a lot, which is bad luck I guess realistically. Seeing some of that this year. It almost seems like we are more likely to lose a game where we score 5 than where we score 2.
  21. I see he got another today. I generally don’t dream on corner outfield prospects but one to watch.
  22. Romano has had tons of rest recently but didn’t have it tonight. It happens. Our bullpen isn’t that good. We knew it was an average bullpen before the season started. It’s not a surprise.
  23. Martinez is our best dice roll at a cheap star as the team as a whole gets very expensive. I don’t like the idea of including him in any trade. Groshans sure.
  24. How many jays pitchers make the Yankees pen? Romano just had a bad night tonight. It happens. However, we seem to have so many guys who don’t really strike anyone out. Romano and Cimber are the only ones whose stuff I really like and cimber also doesn’t strike anyone out. I know our hitting hasn’t been up to it so far, but I still think if we miss the playoffs, it’s going to be the pen. It’s nowhere near elite.
  25. If Moreno stays healthy and starts showing power (and maintains his hit tool) I could see him being called up. Especially, since imo Kirk has really improved his trade value this year. He’s shown that he is viable defensive catcher playing 2/3 games or thereabouts. He hasn’t hit as well as you’d like but it’s still a 97 wrc+. I think before the season he was considered a guy who could hit and play passable defense as your second catcher/DH. He’s shown he’s more than that in my eyes. I also think that full time catching is always something that can hurt your bat while you get used to calling most games and dealing with all the pitchers. I’d say other teams will project him to hit better as he gets used to the role. He’s the obvious candidate for any big deadline deal. For a more crazy prediction, I think Martinez will be up for opening day next year. There are now incentives to call guys up at the start of the year and he profiles as a possible ROY kind of guy. He’s also on that timeline. Most of the year in double a and a month in triple A at the end. Edit: or they could trade Jansen? 2 years of control vs 4 for Kirk. Also, if you wanted to extend Kirk (which might not be ideal looking at his body) he signed for like 30k from Mexico. He might be an easy extension. Same deal for Moreno actually. It’s so shady but every team does it. Trading Jansen for high end relief arms like the Tampa Milwaukee deal last year would be kind of interesting. I don’t really see it happening though. On the original question again, I do think Hernandez and Danner could be up this year.
