  1. And? He has consistently only pitched 2 innings at most . I’m sure those innings have a huge variance of leverage and numbers of pitches. He still only throws 2 innings. Do other teams do that differently?
  2. Thornton went 2.1. That’s more than he’s went all year for us. I’m not sure about buffalo.
  3. I’d pull Thornton early as well. He’s not someone I trust at all. Richards just needs to come in and do his job. He has to use his pitchers. He can’t just decide to never use richards. The problem im seeing is that according to fangraphs he doesn’t have options. That’s could be big.
  4. Does richards have options? He could use a few weeks to figure it out.
  5. I would have thought they were plus just from the teo and Espinal trades. Most of the others were either bad timing (they waited too long prob on owner mandate) or marginal one way or the other.
  6. If it’s Thornton, what are the odds he walks in at least one run? Pretty frustrating. This is exactly how you lose to bad teams. Walks and cheap hits.
  7. Bad batted ball luck but that’s what can happens when you walk three guys in an inning. You leave yourself open to that mattering. This is where we really miss stripling in the pen .
  8. I don’t know… are we super unusual compared to other teams. Are we the only team that uses off days to give guys two days off? This stuff seems overblown. Tapia at 5 is probably a leftie rightie thing and I think generally managers way overdo that but also not that big a deal. But yea, the former I don’t care. The latter is questionable but still not outside the norm. My only gripe with Charlie is that he waits too long to get relievers up. That’s it. He seems to be average or above in everything else.
  9. I strongly doubt that rest decisions are entirely or mostly Charlie’s call. They probably have some kind of system and they rest guys when they need rested. Also, Kirk caught last night. It’s expected he wouldn’t be in the lineup today.
  10. They are also trying to win. Trading a starter isn’t necessarily out of line with winning.
  11. I mean, we say that but the rays traded their starting short stop last year to make room for a prospect. A couple of prospects actually.
  12. Kirk is under control until he’s 28. As long as you don’t extend him, I think it will be fine.
  13. Romano has looked shaky after rest sometimes too.
  14. It’s good for us. It’s hard to win the AL east. Now there’s the consolation prize of a home wild card series instead of just one game.
  15. Rays won and Yankees look like they will win but honestly don’t even care. The 3 team 3 game series wild card makes it way less important to win the division. Just want home field advantage.
  16. The only double play i have a problem with with vlad is the first one because that wasn’t a pitch you should swing at first pitch. In the zone but too low. The other he hit it hard right at the guy. Not a big deal .
  17. Manoah battled it tonight. And honestly I don’t care, that deep in the game just get someone up.
  18. No one up after the first walk? I like Charlie as a manager but this is his major weakness. Maybe they didn’t show it but someone needed to be up right then.
  19. I don’t think manoah has his best stuff breaking ball wise but he is such a gamer.
  20. Variance. To me his approach has been basically identical.
  21. What’s the record for double plays in a game? We are quite a pace.
  22. Really? I thought the one Bo caught was hit hard? My bad.
  23. That one was fine to swing at. Just rolled over it.
  24. I thought the one Melendez hit to teo was smoked but it might just have been teos route.
