  1. The brewers have insane self belief in their pitching dev which is probably warranted given their record in that area. That Yankees prospect was a pretty good one to give up for a reliever. But they also probably think they can make more.
  2. You are right that control matters. I just see stuff in the media that seems to put control as just the same for all types of players. Like, to make up some numbers, let’s say the value of control is a multiplier on the ‘real’ value of the player. If 2 years of control is worth twice the value of one year for a starter, for a reliever it should be more like 1.25 times the value. People are talking about huge prices for guys like soto and jiminez … and it’s all based on control. If that’s the case, just do not pay that price imo.
  3. Haven’t been able to watch many games lately but seem to be rolling. Good stuff.
  4. I don’t get why teams care about control in relief pitching. I get caring about having optionable guys but I don’t care that much about control. Soto probably flames out or isn’t that good before that anyway. Also, if I’m doing a trade for skubal, anyone else is a throw in. I’m not getting to Moreno by adding in Soto. That’s a classic way to get ripped off. Keep your ‘controllable’ relief and let’s just negotiate on the starter.
  5. Feels like Espinal is transitioning to a platoon? Seems like he is starting against righties less.
  6. Barber’s k% at lower levels was pretty bad. I need to see a longer sample at double A to see if something really did click.
  7. In retrospect my fave deadline moves are usually big or small with not much in between. So, if we go big, make it Castillo or a pitcher or hitter who can make a substantial difference. Otherwise, rentals. No buying control for relievers. Get a Zimmer replacement for cheap. That kind of thing.
  8. We are back to 10 games over 500. I’m finding it hard to get too pissed off right now.
  9. IÂ’m interested but I want to see his k and bb rate over a larger sample in double A.
  10. I don’t know if they are something but palmegianni and barger keep mashing at high A and double A respectively. I’ll be interested if barger can maintain his walk rate and strikeout rate, both career bests in limited at bats at double A. And interested if palmegianni makes double A this year.
  11. Probably not enough to get pace to sign but I can hope.
  12. The weirdest thing about Tapia is that he is doing all this while going way back up in o swing %. Baseball is weird lol.
  13. Yondrei Rojas struck out 10 over 5 innings in the FCL today.
  14. I feel like whatever happens he’s getting pretty much every cent of any more savings we have, but it will be interesting to see what happens. I’m dreaming on Pace. I love guys like that who are pure athletes as late picks.
  15. I was kidding. He accidentally replied twice to the same comment. I don’t know if it’s a non story. I mean, it’s a famous family and it’s scandalous in a sense. That’s all it takes to be a story. I’d agree that it’s not super fair that Bo would have to answer questions on it and I understand if he doesn’t.
  16. Yea, it’s some combo. I’d be more worried about pitch recognition though.
  17. I feel like it’s the number one reason prospects bust other than injuries.
  18. That would be 20th pick value. I think he’d need more, right? It’s only 320k over. That would be awesome. Maybe that would allow them to give Pace 300k and get him to sign .
  19. Maybe… not being able to recognize breaking stuff is something some guys never grow out of.
  20. Just update me if you change your mind. I’ll assume you still feel the same way on an ongoing basis.
  21. I hope Laika is right. It’s way more likely he can adjust to hit less fly balls than he can up his pitch recognition substantially. If this is just pitch recognition and not a problem with his swing, then that’s a bigger problem imo.
  22. Huh, none of us are getting paid to make managerial decisions for the blue jays but we talked s*** about Charlie for years, lol. I don’t think they should air dirty laundry but they definitely shouldn’t have talked about the budding romance of a known spousal abuser. Maybe he’s a reformed man. That’s fine but stay off the topic altogether imo.
  23. Fair enough. That makes sense.
  24. Strasbourg does but not sure Corbin.
