    Jays have a crap ton of SPs at the MLB, AAA and even AA levels, looking to either rebound or establish themselves. All it takes is 2 or 3 to be successful and 1 or 2 to be average and suddenly the rotation is much better than expected. Then the Jays FO can always look to bolster that mid season with a trade if the team is in playoff contention.     Maybe the Jays can trade for good starter. Does taking Moustakas and his contract from the Reds reduce the acquisition cost of Gray or Castillo from the Reds? Gurriel and a top 5-10 prospect for Castillo and Moustakas? Too much or too little? Move Biggio to the OF, Moustakas plays 3rd and gives you another left handed bat in the line up.

    Do we still think they're after Rosenthal? I thought that ship sailed when they signed Phelps, but I hope I'm wrong. He racks up the Ks and had a s*** load of career saves pitching for a perennial playoff team and has a pile of playoff experience too.

    Nice K rate in a small sample size last season. Jumped up to 13.5 K/9 And we still got Hatch too haha

    Just chomping at the bit to see the Jays sign Paxton and then get this show on the road. 1. CF - Springer 2. SS - Bichette 3. 2B - Semien 4. DH - Hernandez 5. LF - Gurriel 6. 1B - Guerrero 7. 3B - Biggio 8. RF - Grichuk 9. C - Jansen B - Tellez (In there for Grichuk vs RHP, Teo to RF) B - Espinal/Urena B - Fisher/Davis B - Kirk/Mcguire SP - L - Ryu SP - L - Paxton SP - R - Pearson SP - L - Ray SP - L - Matz RP - R - Roark RP - R - Stripling RP - R - Chatwood RP - R - Merryweather RP - L - Borucki RP - R - Romano RP - R - Yates RP - R - Dolis Use Roark as the 6th starter unless there is an off day, then have him be a long man out of the pen on what would have been his regular start day. Lefty heavy rotation, and a righty heavy bullpen. Probably not ideal I guess, but f*** it. Bonus points for squishing out Roark like the turd he is and replacing him with Rosenthal and then signing Marwin Gonzales to replace one of the bench players.

    I agree. Even without bringing in another starter (which I'm pretty sure they will) they have enough arms to roll out a 6 man rotation. 1. Ryu 2. Pearson 3. Ray 4. Matz 5. Stripling 6. Roark 7. Chatwood (multi inning guy for sure, can start as well) 8. Merryweather (I believe they said they want to stretch him out, maybe he's a multi inning guy this year?) 9. Kay (starting in AAA?) 10. Hatch (I believe they want to stretch him out? Starts in AAA?) 11. Thornton (Not sure when he's slated to return) 12. Zeuch (Starts in AAA) 13. Waguespack (Starts in AAA) 14. Murphy (Starts in AAA) Tons of depth, and lots of wild card type arms, and it's probably a good idea to spread the innings around given the light work load for everyone in 2020. If/when they bring in another starter (come on Paxton!) they can push Stripling or Roark to the pen to eat innings from there.

    If the Jays were in on Bauer, then you know they are hot after Odirizzi/Paxton right now, or maybe they even had a trade for a good starter on the back burner waiting on Bauer's decision. Hopefully some good news coming in the next day or two.

    If the Jays think they can get Walker to the next level, or they can't get Paxton to sign, then I'd be OK with bringing him back. To me though, Paxton has way more upside if he can stay healthy and bounce back he's a top of the rotation guy. They need that a lot more than they need more mid to bottom of the rotation filler.

    They're just tossing mud against the wall to see what sticks. If they want Kay starting in AAA, and Ray starting in the show, then Borucki is the only left handed reliever on the 40 man. Hopefully at least one of Mayza or Liriano show they are good enough to warrant a spot so they can have some high leverage left handed options out of the pen. Too bad they couldn't get Hand to sign.

    I agree. If they kept him in the pen and signed Rosenthal, there would be a s*** ton of opposition strike outs from the 6th inning on with that group of relievers. Only thing missing is a proven stud lefty, but hopefully Borucki can turn into that, and/or maybe even Mayza will come back strong from his TJS.

    Man, I hope they can get Rosenthal inked to a deal. Great career K and BB rates, and over 130 saves. It'd be nice to have 2-3 options to close games in case of injury, and if every one actually stays relatively healthy then you have a lights out high leverage bullpen. Plus then you shouldn't have to worry about Montoyo trotting your closer out there 3 games in a row or until the poor bastards arm falls off. Yates Rosenthal Romano Dolis Borucki Pretty solid group right there to anchor the BP.

    I can see Vladdy, Tellez and Hernandez all getting a lot of AB's as DH this season with the roster as it stands. Plus Gurriel, Jansen, Kirk, Springer and Semien might get some AB's as DH as well. I don't see how Atkins could possibly be in the market for a DH bat right now.

    lol this is f***ing awesome. Add Springer, added Semien at a bargain with no long term risk and we still have our awesome prospect base still in tact? What Jays fan could possibly be disappointed at this point?
