    Surprised to hear they're in on Bauer. From all reports, they were struggling enough to keep DJL and weren't going after any expensive pitching talent.

    Ya it feels like the Jays are best bidder in some cases but the players don't want to bite without that offer being an overpay. They're just waiting it out in hopes of getting a better offer from their preferred destination. Some might just take a 1 year deal instead of a long term deal from the Jays in hopes there's more money next year Could just be my Jays paranoia speaking here lol.

    It might be Covid related or it might be free agents really not wanting to come to Toronto at a non-inflated price. Like please, anyone else just bid close to what the Jays are offering lol.

    I think it's extremely unlikely we would say no to Lindor just because DJL said yes. I think the type of package changes based on who we sign in free agency. Its at a point where I feel its a forgone conclusion Lindor's coming here lol.

    Do we think its possible for us to get DJL and Lindor this off-season if we strike out on Springer? It would probably mean Biggio to the OF and another season of Grichuk at CF (YUCK).

    Ya its very possible. I think him moving around so many positions could also hurt him in the long run since he doesn't get a chance to master one. Problem is that we need a CF badly and we already have 3 corner OFers on the roster. Grichuk is going nowhere because of his contract and I can't see us trading both Gurriel and Teo. Teo is too young to become a DH at this stage either.

    You have to believe its because they have a connection with Lindor from their time in Cleveland. Also being able to rule out the Coors field factor that seems to influence people's thinking of Colorado players whether its justified or not l.

    Ya I agree. While biggjo can play a lot of positions, it doesn't mean he can play them well. It's a reason why I struggle coming up with a long term position for him if we acquire Lindor unless Bo can play 3B.

    But the difference between us and Tampa should be that we're able to retain our top talent and don't need to keep recycling. Using that motto has won a lot of games for Oakland and Tampa but failed more time than not on the big stage.

    Don't think any of us doubt how he looks. Glad to see that power is still there!!

    I'm surprised to hear that after watching them the past few seasons but hope the Indians think the same way. With Kirk waiting in the wings, id prioritize Gurriel much higher than Jansen. I think it will all come down to who we end up signing. Realmuto means Jansens gone and Springer would mean Gurriels probably gone.

    Does Jansen have anywhere near the value of Gurriel? I would assume Gurriel would be the A level asset while Jansen would be the C level asset that would require another B level asset to be included with him.

    I would say his job is to manage expectations. If they strike out, the blowback would be massive and actually very counterproductive to them in the short term. For the time being, they have the attention of all jays fans everywhere so let's see where that takes us.

    We're at the point where we are getting at least Lindor or Springer. Would be wishful thinking to get both and would be heartbreaking if we lose out on both. A move has to be coming any day now

    Oh its worth everything hearing that lol. Really don't think we need a catcher and definitely need a CFer but its hard to be upset if we went that route. I am assuming our package to the Indians will be dependant upon who we get from free agency.

    With rumours of Lindor... lets say in free agency we get Springer but then trade Gurriel or sign Realmuto and then trade Kirk. Would you rather have Springer/Kirk or Realmuto/Gurriel to go alongside Lindor? Yes, I realize we'd probably have to give up more if Kirk is the main player going out for Lindor.

    In a normal year, id be with you but with all the stars aligning and our management just adding more fuel to the fired, expectations are sky high lol.
