  1. Not sure I'd say JBJ has just "ok" defense. He is much better than anyone on our team defensively. However, I'm not the biggest JBJ fan offensively. Would only like him as a stop gap solution for 1 season if we don't get Springer.
  2. Saw that too much. Usually love Tim and sid but that take was so cringe lol.
  3. Waiting for the Springer response saying that's just false lol
  4. Its always been like that for us and this is no different. Most don't want to come here unless we pay a premium. Aren't many examples of big named players coming here otherwise. Clemons, Russell Martin, Ryu, etc. all came here for the biggest paycheck.
  5. Report: Springer seeking contract worth over $150M https://www.thescore.com/mlb/news/2081016 If Kim can get a thread then Springer deserves one too considering we seem like "finalists" for his services at the moment. It's also easier to track all Springer related news in one thread. Article says he's looking for "well over 150 million." I was going to assume that a 6/150 deal would get it done and that both teams are probably closer to the 5/125 mill area. If he wants more than 6/150, I don't see us doing it at all.

  7. One day you'll agree with me... one day...
  8. No man, theres a difference in saying he can get better than saying he is already a top 5 SS. It's probably more to do with him having questions coming up to the bigs at that spot. That and with the Simmons/Lindor rumours help confirm those biases against Bo that management also thinks the same. Personally, I'm only in favour of shifting him off that position if we can get a franchise cornerstone like Lindor. It'll also make it easier for Bo to swallow since his longterm happiness should be a big concern for us.
  9. Do you think the fact Bauer isn't asking for outrageous term allows him to ask for more yearly? A 5 year contract should be his entire prime unlike some other crazy contracts that get given out until a pitchers late 30s. Also if he really intends to pitch every 4 days, you are getting more out of him than a normal pitcher. I can see someone biting at a 5/175 deal only if he pitches a certain amount of games. Not us but someone lol.
  10. Haha damn... I'd be scarred from tweeting Bauer information out going forward.
  11. Makes you wish we went the Padres route via trade if true. Only good thing about Bauer's request is that the term is great and he also wants to start every 4 days, so technically you're getting more out of him than a normal pitcher.
  12. I have a hard time believing he is ahead of all those SS's on the list defensively. But then again, I have 0 clue how these calculations are actually performed lol.
  13. I am only going off the rumours that are going around for Lindor. I said that trading Gurriel only made sense if we signed someone like Springer to best allocate our lineup. Otherwise, I agree with everyone, I would not trade him. And let's not pretend like we're the Yankees or Dodgers who can sign any free agent of our choosing. If we have a chance to get an elite player, you make it happen assuming the costs are reasonable obviously.
  14. Because Lindor is young and elite at that position while Bo is nowhere near him there yet. Bo can still grow into that but I'd think it's a near certainty that he becomes an elite 2B or possibly 3B. While Tulo underperformed with the bat, he showed how important it is having an elite defensive SS. I'd prefer not to be just average defesnively at that spot.
  15. I would prioritize getting a franchise SS over having a 10 million dollar 4th OFer. Just seems like a better allocation of our resources if we get Springer. Also improves our defense all around dramatically, not to mention our batting/base running. Biggio could be our 4th OFer when needed.
  16. I recall seeing a report that that Indians weren't getting great offers for Lindor and that they were thinking about adding Carrasco just to get the offers they're expecting.
  17. I think it only makes any sense if we signed someone like Springer. You move Grichuk to Gurriel's spot and we have an extremely well balanced team. Other than getting Springer, trading Gurriel makes no sense.
  18. We're at the start of our uphill climb to become consistent winners so I can't see us making that trade without an extension agreed upon. Just makes 0 sense to give up prospects for a 1 year window of Lindor when we're not there yet. I wouldn't even contemplate that happening.
  19. I'd only circle back on this take if we strike out this offseason. We only have room for 1 infielder and I'm sure we'd all be happier with DJL or Lindor (with extension) so let's see how things go.
  20. This can be forgotten pretty easily based on the next set of moves. Hopefully that contract is a sign of what players are being offered out there. We'd have no excuse to grab some good impact players.
  21. Who pays a guy 40 million but would like a demotion clause in there. You either think hes ready at that money or you don't...
  22. It just means players aren't as excited about us as we are about them... doesn't mean the rumours of our interest is false.
  23. For sure, why trade your best prospects to pay Lindor a lot when you can do that in free agency just for a draft pick. I'm just not sure of the chances of it actually happening. We'll find out soon enough. With the Lindor/Shatkins connection, that seems like the most realistic route.
  24. Damn... all that talk about us and the Mets this offseason. Then the Padres come out of nowhere to slap us both for the moment lol
  25. And the fact there should be more teams competing in the market with things returning to normal soon. If we can't sign free agents when most other teams are trying to stand pat or trim payroll, why would anyone be confident we can do better next year? We need to progressively show that we are becoming contenders. We started with Ryu last year and have communicated to the public that we are trying to do the same thing this year. I have faith we will do something but lets wait and see what that is.
