    Padres did pretty damn well man. They got Soto for 1.5 years and while it didn't workout, they're getting back a lot of what they gave in the first place. Respect them for taking the swing.

    If you took a poll, majority would have wanted him ass fired the day after his after season presser. Lol @ saying 0 playoff wins in an expanded playoff era is all luck. He hasn't been complete dog s*** but he also hasn't been great. With the amount of resources at his disposal, the bar is a lot higher than what he's produced so far.

    You're better off waiting until Spring Training before making that decision. Who knows if he finds a fountain of youth. Its not like you're going to gain anything from buying him out now than waiting for it later.

    Imagine trying to spin that the Yankees getting Soto for the longterm is a bad thing for them while blowing your load waiting on Ohtani lol. Soto being off the board before Ohtani makes his decision is our worst case scenario.

    Man, imagine if Ohtani signs with the Dodgers and we hear Soto is gone to the Yankees on the same day. It seems like the most likely scenario but man, that would be so depressing.

    Crazy part is that the snow in the GTA has become a joke to what I grew up with. Global warming has been good to the GTA. It's gonna be 11 degrees this weekend lol.

    I'm all in if we can avoid a follow up Dickey like trade. Although we already did a Dickley like trade last year by trading Moreno/Gurriel for Varsho lol.

    Ya I'm with you here. Ohtani will most likely be paid like he'll start for 80% of his contract when it looks like it'll be closer to 20% after 2 TJs. Him playing OF as he's only getting older and heavier seems like a stretch. Although I wonder if there's ever a chance he'd go from starting to becoming a closer. I think he could still play 1B and become a closer later on.

    Disagree... I understand the logic to have him leadoff but there are other effects by having him bat 2nd or 3rd. It provides better lineup balance (lefties and righties) and more importantly ensures whoever bats in front of him will see strikes. A guy like Vlad can truly takeoff being pitched like that instead of giving that benefit to your number 9 hitter.

    So if we got Ohtani... where would you guys bat him assuming we're not going to get hitters better than Bo/Vlad/Springer? I think batting 3rd makes sense but providing protection to Bo is utterly useless since he is going to swing at pitches no matter where they are. A guy like Vlad would benefit from being protected by Ohtani the most but its hard to justify batting him 2nd after the season he just had. I'd still go with Springer / Vlad / Ohtani / Bo.

    Lol nice. And no, getting Ohtani doesnt make or break them. What breaks them is we've yet to win a damn playoff game in their era so if we fail to win a playoff series this year, they should be out the door. They've had enough time/resources to get s*** done and so far they've been a big let down. The product on the field hasn't gotten it done while our "waves of talent" is severely lacking in the farm system.

    Since we're all waiting for real news, i wonder what's the breaking point for everyone in the Ohtani talk. Like at which point do you think it'll be a horrible deal for the Jays and getting a 30 year old Ohtani won't make you happy? I'm seeing crazy numbers like 12/600. If I see that then I don't know how happy I'd be knowing the Jays would be screwed for almost half of that deal.
