  1. Anything less than earning the 1st WC spot is a disappointment, for me anyway. And the trade deadline was a bit of a joke. Right now the season, for me, is 5/10.
  2. I have never hated a player more than I hate Odor. Including Donnie Moore, who killed his family.
  3. Signed, Shea Hillebrand.
  4. Fangraphs has his FV at 35+ Not great.
  5. Bleacher Reports likes our trades: https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10044115-biggest-winners-and-losers-of-the-2022-mlb-trade-deadline "Toronto Blue Jays Landing groundball machine Zach Pop (18 G, 3.60 ERA, 63.1 GB%) and veteran setup man Anthony Bass (45 G, 16 HLD, 1.41 ERA) in exchange for a diminishing asset in former top prospect Jordan Groshans was a nice under-the-radar move by the Blue Jays. The oft-injured Groshans is hitting a punchless .250/.348/.296 with one home run in 279 plate appearances at Triple-A this year, while the Blue Jays upgrade a bullpen that ranks 15th in the majors with a 3.89 ERA. They also added Whit Merrifield at the buzzer. While he's having a down year with an 81 OPS+ in 95 games, he can still be a key contributor for the stretch run."
  6. I'm down with the ban. We can all make dumb posts, but to initiate a really, really dumb thread? Gah.
  7. I have a strong feeling they pick up Robertson before the deadline. The Jays have to consider who hasn't had their COVID-19 vaccinations. If we had a list of players who haven't, we could scratch them off the list.
  8. I am actually shocked that the Red Sox didn't throw at anyone. I supposed that may be why some of the good players sat near the end.
  9. I think the MLB record is 7/7 by Andres Gallaraga.
  10. Big news, everyone. Shi Davidi just revealed that the FO may still make other moves this year, and that signing s*****, washed up Romo may not be their last move.
  11. I wonder if Aaron Nola is available. He is having a really great season, and may not cost too much as a < 1 year rental. The Phillies are 3.5 GB on a WC spot, but are trending down.
  12. I feel so dirty that I sort of hope that Grichuk sucks in Colorado. Am I a bad person?
  13. Mine is probably a lot different than all of you. I first saw the Jays in Regina, SK when they played the Canadian National Baseball Institute in 1989 at a CFL stadium. I remember being 5' away from Tom Henke as he warmed up, and I could not believe how fast he threw. I pitched for years, but never topped 85 mph. He was throwing 93 mph with EASE. And CONTROL lol. It was pretty exciting, and a life changer for me. I do remember that I was still angry that Barfield, my favorite player at the time, has just been traded. Like, I couldn't f***ing believe it. So that took the wind out of my sails a bit for this matchup. https://leaderpost.com/sports/baseball/home-runs-and-hash-marks-the-toronto-blue-jays-visit-taylor-field
  14. Who had Espinal leading the team in fWAR with 1.2 by mid-May? Very cool.
  15. We have a lot of games against Baltimore in September. Honestly, for me, if they were a few games above .500 by May 1st I was going to be super happy. Tough schedule in April.
  16. I didn't want to watch this game, because I was so nervous. I just checked the box. Holy s***!
  17. I keep forgetting about Logan Warmoth.
  18. Oh I get it, he's really short. Like 5'6". Not many effective players in MLB not named Altuve. Don't say Stroman, because if you look at his numbers for 2022, he is no longer effective.
  19. Super Barrio Brothers is perfect.
  20. Does anyone know if it is possible to list a bunch of players by fWAR for the current season using Fangraphs? I'd like to be able to list all the ex-Jays and see how they are doing at any given time.
  21. Hey, what do you all think extensions would look like for Vladdy and Bo? They are both free agents in 2026. Their arb numbers *may* look like this... 5M/10M/18M/22M Could/should the Jays sign both of them for similar amounts? 12-year, 340M? Is this even close to realistic? I do not even know where they would begin. Bichette -> 30/30/30/30/30/30/30/30/30/30/20/20 (FA at 35 years old) Vladdy -> 30/30/30/30/30/30/30/30/30/30/20/20 (FA at 34 years old) I do not want to trade them, but say by 2024 no extensions are signed, and both continue their career trajectory...what sort of haul would they bring back, say, if they started looking at trades as early as 2024? Could you imagine trading both for 4-5 A prospects from a couple organizations? It'd be sad, but super interesting. Another option would be to sign one, and trade the other. You still get a huge haul, and you keep one of the "vets".
  22. Random question, tonight's Blue Jays Central played a really cool song whenever they went to a commercial break. Does anyone know the name of that tune and the band that plays it? It sort of sounds like The Killers...
