  1. Trey Mancini would be an interesting pickup. He's a FA in 2023, so he'd come with a bit of control. He is such an amazing story, and he can play OF, 1B and (I think) 3B in a pinch. That would spell the absolute end of Rowdy. Hey, trade Rowdy+ for Mancini. Well, maybe Rowdy would be the plus.
  2. So it could be like with Dickey where the Mets gave GM_AA a window to negotiate a contract extension after the trade details were ironed out. Interesting.
  3. I think I make that trade. It would hurt, but it would make 2021 really interesting. Ugh, I hate giving up these prospects I have followed for years.
  4. Kyle Seager would be a good get. Although his 2023 option may kick in. I am not sure I'd want him past 2021. But he would take care of 3B and make this lineup outstanding. Biggio could be the super sub. Fry from Baltimore may be an option. I think he is a FA after 2021. I think he would be a decent 7th or 8th inning guy. A lefty Dolis.
  5. He's not the best player on this squad, but Teo has become my favourite player. He just seems like a super nice guy, great teammate, and his English is amazing, so he can bridge the gap between Spanish speaking and English speaking players on the roster, which I am 100% sure he does day in, day out. I love it when he goes off and has great days at the plate. I realize that is a good example of a poorly written run-on sentence.
  6. He created a little buzz when he was first called up, and then he won a gold glove. That off season he had decent value. Hind sight is 20/20, but I wonder what they could have gotten for him that offseason. That was when his value was about double it is now.
  7. If you don't know, you are not very self aware.
  8. Montoyo places 21st here: https://www.yardbarker.com/mlb/articles/all_30_mlb_managers_ranked/s1__34502618#slide_1 No word about the metrics they used. Too bad there wasn't an fWAR for managers. That would be awesome.
  9. Does anyone ever remember players hitting as hotly as Vladdy right now? JB had some great streaks, I remember one month when Rasmus went off. Nothing else comes to mind.
  10. Yeah, my thoughts exactly. I have gotten into it with Mike Wilner on Twitter a few times. I am sure some fans like him would like these players to rot in the minors until they are 29 or something. FFS Manoah is 23 and dominating. And really, in sum, until the Jays can start playing consistent .500 ball against the Rays we're not going anywhere in the post-season anyway, so let's have some fun watching the kids play.
  11. AND the Jays have a LOT of young. low minors, talent. I love what Shapiro and company has done. And we are starting to see the rewards of the process...we should have a young competitive team indefinitely.
  12. Yeah, that's kind of where I am, too. Whatever. I am more excited about Manoah and SWR.
  13. As long as Kyle Seager is still healthy and can be traded for...
  14. Bison/beef mix. Otherwise you're a loser.
  15. Wow, they voluntarily got worse. Good for their opponents.
  16. That seems crazy good for an 18-year old. He is already better than Big Diesel.
  17. I don't think so. I keep running him out there every ~ 5 days until he can figure it out, and the game slows down for him. Or he gets hurt. Probably the latter.
  18. I didn't realize this until just now, but Eric Thames and Justin Smoak are both on the same Japanese ball team...both seem to be having a good season out east. https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/team.cgi?id=35df3a92
  19. He better have.
  20. I agree with you. Manoah and Pearson should be in the SP rotation as soon as the service time clock thing is passed (for Manoah). I keep getting into it with Mike Wilner on Twitter re: this. I say play the kids, Monoah, Austin and Groshans now. Especially if the guys on the roster suck. I would rather the kids suck and earn valuable experience than having a s***** vet who has a low ceiling.
  21. I don't think I poo pooed it, in fact I liked it IIRC (could be wrong). But now, at least for me, it makes all the sense in the world. We get a rental+ who really solidifies a position that has been a bit of a nightmare, and Biggio can be used where he adds more value, plugging holes everywhere. And, as a bonus, it lets the kids mature in the minors a little more and gets rid of Panik. Seattle, while overperforming, isn't really a contender. Maybe we could grab Seager for a couple of B prospects? No idea what the trade world will be like this year.
  22. Good article on SN today: https://www.sportsnet.ca/mlb/article/way-early-trade-deadline-planning-blue-jays/ Kyle Seager would be a great add. I wonder if his option would kick in for 2022 automatically if traded? That would be awesome. With Seager on 3B, Biggio could be the super sub, and Panik maybe loses his job.
