  1. Vladdy needs to do a Giancarlo Stanton, Dude took the off-season to resculpt his body and he’s back to being a respectable hitter, not great like he was in his prime, but dangerous nonetheless. Vladdy is in his so called prime, and just doesn’t seem to field or run the bases like they matter at all, or contribute to a winning environment. Vlad Sr needs to sit his son down and explain what it means to be a professional. Dad was “Vlad the Impaler”. His son is “ The stay puff Marshmallow Man”.
  2. How can a team win when the manager can’t even figure out a proper lineup? And the supposed 2 best players couldn’t buy a hit in a clutch situation if their lives depended on it. The GM and President are so removed from reality that the entire organization is rotting from the inside out. It’s time to clean house. Not even Ohtani would have changed it….its time to admit it. Burn it to the ground.
  3. nice allusion its sad that its so apt. this team has so much talent and so little heart
  4. I respect Donnie Baseball like no other. trust me on that, but he's not the right guy for this team. they need a proven Manager to get the best out of his players, a guy Like Buck Showalter, he has done it with many teams and he demands accountability.Get rid of the country club atmosphere and make it clear to Vlad and Bo that everyone has to produce if the want to be here
  5. Please no, not that I think youre wrong or anything because it sounde like thats a very Shapiro like thought process, but its also the one guy who would without a doubt be worse than Manfred. Manfred is horrible and I dont think anyone would disagree with that, but if anyone could be worse, Shapiro would find a way..... like his first move would be to contract the league back to 12 teams in each league......bye bye Jays Shapiro is the Donald Trump of Baseball
  6. one of the most brilliant things Larry Dolan ever did was covincing Blue Jays Ownership to hire Shapiro. the fans in cleveland were clamoring to get rid of him and his Right Hand man Atkins. Dolan not only found a way to get the fans off his back but also to Keep the Jays from hiring one of the bright young minds of the sport Alex Anthopoulos, who was already in the building. Dolan Also Knew that Chris Antonetti one of the indians own bright minds was negotiating With the Cardinals to become their new GM.One can only imagine where the Jays would be If Gillick wasnt going to Retire and Rogers ownership group wasnt Played for Suckers. dolan not only Kept his guy from going, he kept his fans happy and saddled one of his rivals with a guy was going to fire
  7. As i said that was post back injury which left him in constant pain. the point being that mattingly still fielded his postion and was respectable with his bat. averaging about .280 and .330 on base percentage the rest of his career he had to make adjustments, and he did so. the problem with Guerrero is he thinks he he knows better than anyone else and doesnt need to adjust
  8. Mattingly can’t hit for them, it’s not his fault Bichette and Vlad think they already know it all. Even after his back injury stole his power, he still had a good batting average and on base ability. And that was playing in great pain. Don’t slander an all time great just because we have players who think they are too good to learn
  9. doubt that happens according to the Japanese media Yamamoto's idol was Hideki Matsui, and the Yankees have him working to encourage him to sign. for a guy who has said he wants to sign in NY And be part of that iconic franchise. I doubt Toronto has a realistic Chance.Even Steve Cohen said he wont be outbid for Yamamoto, has acknowledged if he's set on being a Yankee, there's not much more I can do.
  10. Yeah and why is the cost of living so much higher in New York than it is in Kansas City? Why does Toronto have a Major League team and not Calgary? https://www.moneygeek.com/living/analysis/cost-for-family-to-attend-an-mlb-game/ The photo isn’t uploading properly but it shows the cost of taking a family of 4 to a game, from the Dodgers at $219, Yankees at $171, to the Marlins at $83, interestingly the Blue Jays didn’t release their data since Rogers was in litigation with MLB. But Forbes estimated they were Believed to be in the $160 range This was based on 2022 data. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’d be more upset how much more we are paying for housing and food than the rest of Major League cities and the fact that WE SUBSIDIZE theses teams so that they have teams at all. That’s way more unfair
  11. Why because you say so? It’s the same ridiculous argument small market teams give for robbing large market team’s in revenue sharing. And then owners choosing to not spend the money and just put it in their pocket. It’s what all teams negotiated…. It may not be fair but every team including the blue jays, agreed to.
  12. I don’t think Ohtani played the jays, if anything they woke up the Dodgers. Roger’s, as they proved with the 5.4 billion contract for the NHL, is a media conglomerate first and foremost. So they fully knew what Ohtani would mean for their brand. Rogers has let Shatkins do stupid things on occasion and limited the Jays payroll in ways we all know about. I’ve complained about it a lot myself, but that’s simply because they don’t really trust Shapiro and Atkins. At least in my opinion. But As far as Ohtani goes, I truly think they wanted him. But in the end they woke up the Bear, (The Dodgers) and that was that. I’m actually surprised the Jays didn’t go higher than they did, because the Marketing factor would have made their brand internationally as well. Right up there with the Dodgers and Yankees. Signing Ohtani was a license to print money
  13. That’s not true, especially since Sarah came onto the forum and was there, at the same time as I was, discussing the topic. She was a Yankee fan, if I remember correctly, boy did she rip you a new one Reed, and yeah you aren’t Kenny. I’d forgotten how much of a know it all and how much of an insufferable prig you were Reed, I’m surprised they let you on this forum. You’d think they’d grow tired of your constant abuse I know Wamco sure did, tell me again how many times did he call you an A hole to your face? And the other guy I think his name was Chaos, or Chaotic, something like that, who never let you forget it? So like I said I consider the source
  14. It may not, John, but the actual tax principles certainly still apply
  15. I’m 66, I guess you forgot that too, it’s why I don’t mind you calling me a putz, it’s probably pretty dark and lacking ventilation in your mama’s basement, so I consider the source. Is your real name Kenny..? If so it explains a lot. If so you haven’t learned anything since we last conversed. Do yourself a favor. Hang out with JimCanuck, maybe some of his obvious intelligence will rub off on you. Lord knows you need it.
  16. Jim, basically you’re correct. It depends on the interest rate you get on the money you invest, if you invest at 5% the current value lower than if you invest at 10% It’s interesting that MLB has its own way of calculating and assessing the taxes, that I wasn’t aware of….. it gives the topic a whole new wrinkle, which is why every team has financial guru’s nowadays. They must earn their money for sure
  17. I can’t help it if you forgot I worked at the IRS for 27 years and was a Revenue Canada liaison for 5 of them. As for you thinking I’m a putz, who cares, while you were living in your mama’s basement I was studying my butt off at Hofstra University. You get what you pay for.
  18. Exactly. This is known as “the time value of money” 1 dollar today is worth considerably more than 1 dollar you receive in 5 years.
  19. It doesn’t lower the luxury tax at all. Not even a dime. All it does is give them more cash currently to spend more to improve the roster. Every team has a certain amount of capital earmarked for current liabilities and a certain amount for debt servicing. All the deferrals do is shift the money owed from current to long term debt service. As an accountant I’ve seen corporations do this every day as a way of shifting tax liability.
  20. The priority should be to sign Tiedeman Bichette and Guerrero long term to lock them into the best contracts they can. Dallying with Ohtani so they can be used to make the Dodgers pay more is a fools game
  21. Ohtani wants all this attention to keep driving the price higher. It’s not that hard to believe, Roger’s doesn’t care either it sells the brand even more which makes the shareholders ecstatic
  22. This year's book for Manuel isn't out yet.The 18-20 comment was from his last 2018 update from december. His book comes out after he's toured each minor league .It usually comes out after the draft between August and September.
  23. Sirbjay. You're an idiot I have the 2019 baseball America prospect guide right here and John Manuel's minor league guide right here as well. So not only are you an idiot you're an illiterate one at that sirbjay Maybe if you spent a little money and you know actually read them you wouldn't be so uninformed. I love it when guys like you who don't even bother to read any expert opinions spout out their ignorance But the guides. Read them. Then talk. Till then your opinion is like your ass. Full of shyte
  24. No it is not ranked top 3. And most sources like baseball America which has them ranked #7 says that most of that ranking is due to guerrero, who is an AA signing. John Manuel of minor league ball says minus Guerrero and Bichette the Jays system would fall to between 18-20 it's an extremely top heavy system
  25. You're right. It's one less plus for shapiro
