The context I was using, "Nothing" was not in that Williams is nothing.. It is/was in the context that the Dodgers are a much smarter organization then others and it was never going to be cheap. https://www.bluejaysmessageboard.com/threads/9457-Blue-Jays-acquire-Ross-Stripling-from-the-Dodgers-for-Kendall-Williams-PTBNL/page6 There are posters in the original thread saying the Dodgers were going to cut him anyway and should be happy to get anything. There are other posters saying in not so many words that Kendall Williams only has a few professional innings and they grow on trees and can be easily replaced next years in the second round of the NPD. My point from day one and now is that I always question why the Dodgers are willing to move a pitcher since they are not exactly a team like the Rays...And if they are going to move a pitcher.. What they are asking for in return is almost always going to hurt, short term, long run etc with their current FO regime. -

I wonder who the Indians would trade for less.. Plesac or Carrasco.. I would much prefer Plesac, though I don't see it happening..

Not to say I told anyone so... But the Dodgers don't give away pitchers for nothing, (like the old Pirates regime) I thought so at the trade deadline and nothing has changed. We will look back on this trade in a few years and grimace.. -

I don't want to blow our load on a 30 yr old catcher who wants a long term deal with all our catching in the system. Tampa made it to the WS with a nobody catcher and LAD did it with a rookie... I don't think that would be a good allocation of our assets..

I think we were all expecting him to turn into Cecil Fielder.. However, we all thought that would be 6-8 yrs away...

He did fine for KC, players evolve/develop.. It ended up as a decent investment for Kansas City, with which Franco slashed .278/.321/.457 (106 wRC+) and totaled eight home runs in 243 plate appearances. He also chipped in playable work at third base with zero Defensive Runs Saved and a plus-1.3 Ultimate Zone Rating in 51 games. KC just can't afford it for that... What I am saying is it would not cost a player or a hell of a lot of $$$... It would be a decent stop gap until Martin or Groshans arrives and we can shuffle guys around. Offer him a 1 yr with an options or something..

I think hitting in Rogers Center/Buffalo and the AL East vs Kaufman surrounded by our hitter vs KC's would help also. He is also decent at D.. Not going to hurt you..

This makes sense (Nimmo) because with the emergence of Smith the Mets have position obstacles and Springer would just add to that. I wish there was some scenario we can keep LGjr, Teo, dump Grichuk and add a Springer, Pham, Nimmo etc. *EDIT: Actually, I forgot they just freed up Cano's spot.. But still makes sense..

Tommy Pham is probably going to be non tendered. Huge injury risks, but great OPB and other talents. He would fit nicely if healthy and IF we need to trade one of our OF in a deal. Does TO have any good strip clubs? I was at Solid Gold years ago, wasn't too impressed. I have heard but never been, that Montreal has better. The part of the whole Pham story I don't understand is that he is now suing the strip club for basically not providing a safe environment/not taking corrective actions for a foreseeable problem. In the suit he is requesting large sum of monetary damages claiming he will not be able to continue his career and loss of potential income due to injuries..?? That plus the wrist surgery.. High risk, but high reward signing if Jays can do it..

Trust me, I am NOT a Stroman fan.. However, baseball execs seem to think he is worth almost $19 Million a yr, so who am I to disagree...

DeGrom, Thor mid-season next year, Stroman, Diaz, Alonso, Smith, Conforto, McNeil, JD Davis etc.. Add a FA SP or two and Springer and not a bad core..

Steve Cohen has brought new life ,YUGE $$$ and a new sense of excitement to the Mets. Singer went to U in Connecticut and was born there. Connecticut is where rich people who work in New York live it is that close. If I would guess I would say Springer was probably a fan of one of the New York teams growing up.. I just don't see us overcoming all that..

Wong is probably accurate, but not interested at all... I think we have a good chance at Lindor (obviously not FA) and that would mean an extension (like a FA) I wouldn't be surprised if we get JO... snooze Maybe Brantley,.. doubt it though...
