  1. Reds have Moustakas, Suarez (both on big $ contracts) as well as Asdrubal Cabrera and Kyle Farmer on their 3b depth chart.
  2. I am just curious about these comments.. How am I trolling and what is it I say I do that is so unbelievable..?? I guess it is one way to disengage from a debate if you know you are losing or have nothing left to substantiate your point/opinion..
  3. Jays will trade with the Reds for Mahle.. As part of the conditions of the deal, Jays will need to eat salary of one of Reds 3B and he will also come over in the deal.
  4. Reds supposedly in talks to possibly move Mahle also. Very surprising the Reds would make him available, but I hope we are all over that. Perfect fit IMO!!
  5. You mean for the Marlin’s I assume?
  6. Quitter…
  7. To play Devil’s advocate, AA built a hell of a relief corps in Atlanta. Enough to absorb the loss of Morton etc and win the WS. We didn’t address our pen sufficiently and cut bait on guys soon enough.
  8. How can you say he is not better than any of those three? Bass was on the same team as him and was the set up guy, not the closer, and Garcia did not lose his job to him at any point. Dolis is a soft tossing dude who got DFAd and ain't getting a 11 million dollar deal. Loup had an awesome year last year but is really only a lefty specialist. Not sure if that same Loup will emerge next year based on my memories of him in TO. Regardless, $11 million over two years is not a lot to be worried about.
  9. He only needs to be the pitcher he was in Miami end of 2020 and 2021 and it will be an improvement in our pen. I don’t think Dollis, Bass and Loup that you mentioned earlier just off the top of my head are apples and apples. I think Garcia is better then all three.
  10. What am I missing about a Texas penalty??
  11. If I interpret your posts correctly, you feel that a pen can be built on the cheap and RPs are very interchangeable etc. In theory maybe. However, hasn’t worked for the Jays and they don’t need to be doing the same thing with the pen every year and expect different results. Garcia had 15 saves as a closer at the trade deadline on a mediocre team. Then with the Astros, his FIP deceased and his K/BB rate went up. This was after the spin rate/substance enforcement. To me, doesn’t matter what he did with the Dodgers. I am looking at what he brings to our overall pen based on his work with Miami and the Astros. Both teams who excel at identifying good pitching. In the big picture IMO, dumb not to do the deal just to save a few dollars relatively.
  12. It has been proven time and time again that not every RP has the mental make up for the high leverage role. Even if they have the, "stuff", they can't handle the pressure, block out the night before or or are outside their comfort zone. Guys who thrive in the 7th don't necessarily thrive in the 9th. To me it is important to have depth behind Romero or if he pitched the days prior etc.. Just filling the BP with RPs does not give us the options I want. The pen was a glaring weakness and I am in favor of this move and hope it is one of many more to come with reference to the pen.
  13. He was a closer in Miami and had success at the end of 2020, 2021 to the point the Astros a playoff bound team went out to acquire him and mixed him into the late innings roles. He is not a middle reliever. Additionally, he has playoff experience in high leverage situations which is good for our team.
  14. AP News And November 27th was thereafter forever known as the Attack of the Spam day. A sea of red could be seen in the list of board members as a result of the battle. The media has yet to release the name of the Admin who performed above and beyond the call of duty, with exceptional gallantry while under continuous attack by a significantly larger force. However, there are already calls for the nations highest medal to be awarded to the yet unidentified hero. “Where do we find such fine young men and woman to serve us so selflessly and with great honor”, stated one frequent board poster. The Defense Department has announced that as a result of lessons learned from this battle, Operation CAPTCHA will begin immediately . End
  15. Obviously you didn’t read, or are not understanding my original post where I addressed both the Rays and the Marlins in the context of Florida. Of course, I am only a lifelong baseball fan and Florida resident… So maybe I have no idea about the situation..
  16. I don't think it has anything to do with if he came up in the Mets org. I think it is about your word as a person to circle back with someone. Heck, even in Fantasy if you tell a guy you will circle back before you accept something you should do it. Let alone in professional baseball. At least tell the guy you have no chance, sorry and this is what is happening. I think this will be noted by the other 29 GMs when dealing with this agent. (Well maybe apart from the Cardinals GM, but it could happen to him next time if this is the agents character.)
  17. I have JRam, so you are saying keep him??
  18. A guy is coming after JRam hard in one of my leagues... I might have already done some version of this deal, but I don't have any 3b depth. I tried to shop for some 3B depth, but no joy for who I was looking for, insane prices. However, would be interested in opinions.. Dynasty H2H 20 team League: I have JRam. This guy is offering me my choice of Freeman or Goldschmidt, Kyle Seager (3b SEA/FA) or Eugenio Suarez, and Anthony DeSclafani So I would get three of the above. Also offering me the same as above with a 1st rnd pick instead of DeSclafani... Thoughts.... Thanks
  19. Nashville. Might need to do some geographical realignment within divisions though if that happens, or maybe not....
  20. The post was in response to the comment the reason for the Rays attendance issues is - Florida. The point is, there IS a market for baseball in the greater Tampa area if right location and product. There are multiple metrics to support that. How is it that in that area, there is a large fan base for hockey, the 6th wheel of sports in Florida. It is because it is a good sports market. The issue is not the market.
  21. "I'm not happy this morning . I've never seen such unprofessional behavior exhibited by a player's agent.I guess words and promises don't matter."
  22. That's not accurate. How is it that a hockey team in FLORIDA in Tampa is top 5-6 in NHL attendance... Hockey... in Florida. The TV ratings for the Rays are pretty good and the minor league teams in Florida get good attendance. The issue with both Teams in Florida, but more so Tampa, is location, location, location. There is one narrow bottle necked way to get to St Pete from the Greater Tampa/Orlando area. It sucks as far as traffic goes, getting there for game after work, parking and leaving after the game. There is no public transport. no Metro rail, no subway or commuter trains or busses. The Marlins are more complicated, but basically at the crux of the issue is the same reason that Montreal lost it's Team in the first place. Same guy responsible as well...Fans of the Marlins are scorned and there are other issues, but years of selling off their stars and being a middling team has not helped.
  23. Nothing to say Tampa can’t. The problem is the Team is in St Pete in a s***** stadium.
  24. Just my gut/opinion.. However, kids who are trying to set themselves and their family for generations are more apt to take a team friendly contract that buys out FA years etc, in case tomorrow they have a career threatening injury. Guys with Bichette, Biggio, Guerrero, etc, as their last names have never had to worry about money and don't have that same risk/reward equation as most international kids/players in general. Point being, I think knowing they have a cushion to fall back on, kids with MLB fathers etc, will be less likely to forgo FA years or do "Team" friendly contracts...
