  1. I don't see this happening for the Jays. He will likely be looking for a $200M contract, and has Boras as his agent.

I think Raptors can win this game focusing on 2 pointers and rabid D. That seems the better statistical odds at this point (especially if they can hit their free throws).
  4. HA, you know everyone (even Bobby Cox) makes mistakes
  5. when it gets to the point that the hard-core fans don't care, you DAMN well better be tanking for a top 3 draft pick. But even at that the Jays are not some small market like KC. It should not come to that for them with proper management.
  6. He meant that he had made a typo when he said 42 games in (should have been 62)- I do make typos, and so I do go back and edit my posts often.
  7. Boras is notorious for reaching for too much for his 'clients'. The clients should know better than to hold out for dear life based on whatever ******** this clown is blowing up their ass. Just wait and see what kind of fiasco Sanchez will end up in with this guy as his agent. Bottom line : when the end of March comes and they still haven't taken the best offer, something is wrong. I defy you to show me a case where they held out beyond Mar 31st and ended up better off financially
  8. I think they continue to put too much faith in that douchebag instead of thinking for themselves
  9. Boras is obviously a major blight on MLB and the MLBPA. The sooner he were to fade in to obscurity the better. Kimbrel ended up with what he was worth (3/$42M). That he held out 3 months to eek out more (yet failed) is totally on that piece of crap agent.
  10. You need to up your game. Spock NEVER makes such mistakes!
  11. I think it may be at a critical time with him - either trade him soon or get the extension deal done (by end of June). He has the potential to become a cancer in the clubhouse........ Problem is other teams also know that, and that as a consequence the Jays are dealing from a position of weakness.
  12. Yeah I was literally typing in my response (was 0-0) and then checked back on the game a few min later and saw they put up a quick 5 spot. FFS !!!!!
  13. It was that I figured next season he is still Arb eligible and that's about what he might get in Arb (making about $7.4 M this year). But you are correct, considering the team payroll situation in 2020, I would just offer him 5/$16M per. Not sure I can go any higher right now, but if he were to perform the rest of this season as he has season to date, the price (he will demand) likely goes up substantially.
  14. Yeah I think you can't go too cheap or he is going to bet on himself and test free agency. I think 5/80 would be reasonable (10 next season then 4 x 17.5)
  15. Apparently math is not your strong suit. As of June 6th, the Jays have a record of 23 and 39: that would be 62 games in, and 100 to go.
  16. Yes also he is holding his own defensively (above replacement on both baseballreference and fangraphs). The only possible replacement (in house) is Reese McGuire, but he is not hitting that well at AAA. If they knew then how it would pan out, the Jays may have decided to keep Martin, considering they are paying most of his salary anyway (and the trade return looks questionable in value).
  17. True he is due for a good outing, so you never know
  18. it would be nice, no doubt; but Jackson is pretty much trash and the best members of the bullpen are likely to be given a rest so......
  19. unless if he continues to pitch for us!
  20. Even if the Jays had lost this game, the light at the end of the tunnel would have still been there, based on how they mashed a solid pitcher in Britton and ran up the score in the 8th. It's not about W/L at this point, but about competing which they did in spades tonight !!
  21. he has not been used that much lately, so they will certainly run him out there
  22. no he was getting warmed up - definitely going out for the 9th
  23. light at the end of the dark tunnel is suddenly apparent !
  24. Yeah they said he has played a lot of CF in his younger years and also played 50 games in CF in winter ball this past offseason. He has the wheels and the arm to be a decent CFer, so let's see what happens.
