    If the "save" statistic never existed, the idea of "saving" your best pitcher wouldn't be a thing. Managers don't "save" their best starters for later games in a playoff series. They want their starters in as many games, in as many high leverage situations as possible. Your best bullpen guy should be used in a key, high leverage situation, regardless if that situation is in the 7th, 8th or 9th and regardless if you have the lead or are tied or winning.

    These division series' should be 7 gamers. A 5 game series gives an unfair advantage to teams with 1 or 2 great starters and penalizes those teams with good depth in starting pitching. Texas can basically pitch Darvish/Hamels in 4/5 of the games, so the fact their 3-5 starters suck doesn't really impact them that much. I'd like to see ALDS and ALCS at 7 games each, with WS being a 9 game series.

    Even if you're trying to save Britton for when you have a lead, after Ubaldo serves up not 1 but 2 meatballs to Travis/Donaldson, you don't think to yourself, maybe I should put in the best reliever in baseball when there's a guy 90 feet away from winning the game with only 1 out.

    Maybe Happ and Estrada in games 1 and 2. If the Jays are in a must win game 3, then you go Sanchez, or if the series is tied or the Jays are up 2-0, you go with Stro in game 3 and then pitch Sanchez in game 4 with Happ in 5.

    Looking at the current situation though, a short series helps when you have a lack of depth. They could use Hamels/Darvish in 4/5 of the games.

    There's no worse pitcher than bad Ubaldo. Threw 3 meatballs. Still can't believe the Os let their season come down to Ubaldo when they had a Cy Young favourite sitting in the bullpen.

    If there's a blowout it could get ugly. But I doubt either team risk losing a game, or a good player to suspension if the games/series is close.

    These guys are icons. Even if the Jays don't win a WS with this core, Eddie's and JBs homeruns will live on forever. Just classic stuff. I'm not worried about the offseason, what happens happens. Lets win a WS now.
