    I love the weekday games against no name teams. Get great seats for cheap, less traffic and less confusion inside/outside the stadium and you are surrounded by mostly hardcore fans.

    Rogers is content with being a .500 team that draws 25K in the stands and a few hundred thousand on TV. If 50K in the stands each night over the last two years and millions watching on TV wasn't enough to motivate them to increase the payroll dramatically, nothing will. They will never be a top 5 payroll team that "goes for it", nor will they be a complete tear down team that wins 60- 65 games. Rogers always plays it safe. They are in it to sell commercials, not win the world series. Shapiro will likely sell off a couple vets/impending FAs, but I doubt you see a dramatic sell off. I have this sick feeling that they will be a 70-80 win team for the next few years.

    How could the Jays fit in EE? Build a time machine. Go back to the day before the signing on Morales. Don't sign Morales. Sign EE instead.

    For sure, it's still early. But unless they sign EE/JB, there aren't big FAs left available that will make a major difference. It also doesn't look like a big trade is coming given they don't have a lot of young assets and they don't want to move guys on their MLB roster. I feel this offseason was the time to go for it one last time or just rebuild. Being an inbetween team sucks.

    The numbers on the Fowler contract are very fair. The NTC is dicey, but STL is trying to win now and sometimes you have to take risks to win.

    I dont like the approach to the offseason so far. Jays should be taking 1 of 2 approaches: 1) Spend money and-or trade assets so you can improve yourself enough that you can compete for WS title. or 2) Rebuild by trading assets while they are still very valuable (Donaldson, Happ, Estrada etc) Instead, it looks they are trying to build a 80-85 win team that will finish 3rd or 4th in the division. Maybe they are just trying to humour everyone right now and they will dump all their assets midseason when they are .500 ball club.
