  1. Kirk needs to stop moving his glove so dramatically. There is NO need to move it.....the pitch is over the plate and NOT low....let the ump see it...where it arrives.
  2. Oh please. That is one play in the second damn game of the year. If it worked like you think it works, he would have been benched for his stupid bobble yesterday. I think after the All Star game, the platoon will die. And that one play made in the second game of the season will not be a decided factor. Good grief.
  3. And the other guy is a better fielder, hits for a better average and looks to have added power to his repertoire. I hope Espy takes over 2nd and the platoon dies.
  4. Is it not the case most of the time, the trailer makes the movie look much better than it actually is.
  5. So how does that saying go, in like a lamb out like a lion. This is about as ugly as it gets.
  6. Gurriel has been red hot this spring. I like him where he is.
  7. I just looked at the 40 man roster and it states that Zimmer was sent to the minors. Does this make any sense??? https://www.mlb.com/bluejays/roster/40-man
  8. YES!!! Cannot listen to Buck. Just can't. When he announces, I listen to music and watch the game. He is that annoying.
  9. Look at the bullpen and tell me you feel comfortable. Now, Pearson is gone for an extended time.
  10. Why did the Jays not get more relief pitching? WHY?
  11. Must admit I have not seen a a lot of Gausman in the past, but I like what I see thus far.
  12. Given the Jays play 30 games in 31 days to begin the season, I would not be surprised if the Jays begin the season with a 6 man rotation. Especially given how short spring training has been this year. Even if they dare to go with a 5 man rotation for the first month, Pearson has not proven to be a closer. While I have high hopes for him, do think the Jays would be prudent to find another arm that has MLB experience closing out games.
  13. Am I the only one who wishes the Jays did more to bolster the bullpen? Still think they should make a move to find another closer to compete with Romano. Always best to have two guys that you can count on to close a game.
  14. At the All Star break, Kickuchi proves to be the most impactful new addition to the Jays.
  15. I think it might be a push. What will make the Jays a MUCH better team this year is the strong possibility that many of the young players on the team will become more experienced fielders and batters. They now have had a couple of years under their belt playing some big games and coming close. Third year is the charm. Those at bats in high pressure games, the young talent is now much better prepared for those moments. AND yes, defensively the young talent made a lot of mistakes last year and do think that too will improve.
  16. As long as Thornton is on the Blue Jays, the Jays are in need of more pitching. Just saying...
  17. I agree with many here, that the Jays would do well to keep their young talent and run with a platoon at second. See how it goes and then return to the question at hand as the trade deadline looms. There is a chance that at that time, another dire need for the team moving forward will have developed. You will still have some young talent and assets to use in a trade and most probably the asking price will be much lower.
  18. Jays have a shortened spring training and once the season begins, only have one off day in their first 30 games. I do not think it out of the realm of possibilities that the Jays begin the upcoming season with a 6 man rotation. AND think that first month of baseball...will determine Nate's fate. IF he balls out, could be that he remains a starter.
  19. It's spring training and a shortened one at that. Best to allow the players to go out there and get their swings in.
  20. Just want to say that I love this thread. While many may have thought it unnecessary at the time - it has turned out to be gold. No matter how this thing plays out.
  21. Yes, but do think the Jays would be sitting in a better position right now if they were one of those teams that fared better in 1 run games.
  22. Good teams find a way to manufacture a run or two when up against a good pitcher. And good teams find a way in close games. Jays right now are not a good team. They could be, but not until they begin to score runs when it matters most and not just in blowouts. Their record is what it is for a reason.
  23. Jays are 25th in the league when it comes to scoring in innings 7 to 9. Or does scoring or not scoring only matters when it comes to other innings? https://www.teamrankings.com/mlb/stat/last-3-innings-runs-per-game And please do not compare me to Buck who basically defends every asinine move made by their below average manager. I simply am stating that the stats seem to suggest that their approach at the plate late in games is not working.
